Last week, the board <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/facebook-board-upholds-trump-ban-demands-platform-clarify-standards\"><span>upheld Facebook\u2019s ban<\/span><\/a><span> of former President Donald Trump but gave the social media platform six months to clarify its policy on suspending accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta asked whether the board\u2019s members decided to \u201cpunt\u201d by issuing a \u201cquasi-decision,\u201d and whether they opposed a permanent suspension.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Hughes replied that the members could only comment on Facebook\u2019s rules, which give the company \u201cthe ability to have a permanent suspension\u201d or a \u201ctime-bound suspension, but not an indefinite suspension.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Placing the most recent former president of the United States under any suspension that is \u201cnot clearly set out in its own rules\u201d could appear \u201carbitrary\u201d and \u201chave a very strong chilling effect around free expression issues,\u201d Hughes said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta then interrupted, using <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/TRANSCRIPTS\/2105\/09\/cnr.04.html\"><span>three variations<\/span><\/a><span> of the phrase \u201cincited an insurrection\u201d in 30 seconds:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"22\">\n<p><i><span>Well, inciting an insurrection could have a real chilling effect on democracy, as you note, Thomas. I mean, there is that issue. The president of the United States at the time, many people in the United States believe \u2014 I mean, it\u2019s fairly clear to just about anybody who watched what happened on January 6th that he incited an insurrection.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Isn\u2019t that something that has to be taken into account? You are not just talking about, you know, regulating just any Tom, Dick, or Harry out there. We\u2019re talking about somebody who incited an insurrection.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Moments later, Acosta reiterated, \u201cThis is not just anybody. This is somebody who incited an insurrection.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta then proceeded to ask the same, similarly worded question five times in a row.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>First, he asked Hughes: \u201cLet\u2019s say Facebook reinstates Trump\u2019s account. Do you believe the social network would be responsible if his rhetoric led to more violence?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Then, Acosta followed up, \u201cIf you gave Trump the green light to be back on Facebook, wouldn\u2019t you be responsible if he goes about lying about the election again and incites more violence in this country?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta asked a third time, \u201cIf the board gives [Trump] the green light to get back on Facebook and Facebook goes along with that, what I\u2019m asking you sir, is, would that make Facebook and the board, and you in particular, sir, responsible if Trump\u2019s rhetoric leads to more violence in this country?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In his fourth question, Acosta asked, \u201cWould Facebook be responsible \u2026 if Trump gets back on the platform, lies again, continues to incite people, and there is violence because of that rhetoric?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In his fifth question, Acosta asked \u201cwhether Facebook and the oversight board would be responsible if Trump continues to lie about the election on that platform, on the Facebook platform, and people carry out violence and people are injured or killed as a result of that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In his last two questions, Acosta instructed Hughes, \u201cIt\u2019s just a yes or no. \u2026 And you could say yes. You could say no.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Over the course of several responses, the representative said the board had \u201cclearly noted the severity of [Trump\u2019s] violation\u201d of Facebook\u2019s community standards. But Hughes, who has a background in human rights activism, said an indefinite suspension violates \u201cinternational human rights standards.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta seemed so frustrated at Hughes\u2019 message discipline that Acosta managed to repeat himself while accusing Hughes of giving repetitious answers to repetitious questions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYou\u2019re saying the same thing over and over again, if you don\u2019t mind,\u201d Acosta said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf you don\u2019t mind me saying, you are kind of saying the same thing over and over again,\u201d Acosta immediately echoed in the next sentence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta has been accused of lacking self-awareness in the past, such as calling Fox News a \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bull-factory-jim-acosta-slams-fox-news-ignores-own-history-of-pushing-misinformation\"><span>bull**** factory<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d while ignoring his own history of spreading misinformation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta likely blanched at Hughes\u2019 refusal to \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-guest-refuses-to-take-the-bait-contradicts-don-lemon-on-slavery\"><span>take the bait<\/span><\/a><span>.\u201d Whenever a CNN host asks a question, he or she is actually \u201c<\/span><span>leading [their guests] in a direction before they even open their mouths<\/span><span>,\u201d CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-director-cnn-reporters-manipulate-people-those-on-tv-have-proven-track-record-of-taking-bait\"><span>admitted<\/span><\/a><span> in an undercover video released by Project Veritas. \u201c<\/span><span>The only people that we let on the air \u2026 are people that have a proven track record of taking the bait.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Acosta\u2019s lashing out came just days after another <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnn-guest-refuses-to-take-the-bait-contradicts-don-lemon-on-slavery\"><span>guest refused to take the bait while discussing the Three-Fifths Compromise on Don Lemon<\/span><\/a><span>\u2019s eponymous prime time show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/subscribe\"><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
