David Jolly claimed Monday that Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was misleading people over Georgia\u2019s new election law.<\/p>\n<p>Jolly stated to host Joy Reid that \u201cBrian Kemp is a liar,\u201d as he joined MSNBC\u2019s \u201cThe ReidOut\u201d to discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/31\/georgia-voting-bill-absentee-voting-id-requirement-food-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the new law<\/a>. <strong><a class=\"text-black\" href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/05\/joe-scarborough-georgia-election-law-jim-crow\/\">(RELATED: \u2018We Need To Be Precise In Our Criticism\u2019: Joe Scarborough Refutes Claim That Georgia Election Law Is \u2018Jim Crow 2.0\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reid began the segment with a video clip of Kemp defending the law, and turning blame for long lines at polling places on Democrats, saying they \u201cneed to do a better job of running their elections and moving people through the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat little spectacle is what the complete capitulation of a political party devoid of ideas looks like,\u201d Reid said after the clip played. \u201cWhy do non-white Georgia voters have to wait in line for so long? According to Brian Kemp, who actually governs in Atlanta where Fulton county is, he says it\u2019s just that Democrats are not doing a good job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She went on to blame Kemp for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2020\/10\/17\/924527679\/why-do-nonwhite-georgia-voters-have-to-wait-in-line-for-hours-too-few-polling-pl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">long lines<\/a>, saying that when he was Georgia\u2019s secretary of state, polling locations were cut \u201cby nearly 10%,\u201d even though the state\u2019s voter rolls \u201chad grown by nearly 2 million people.\u201d She stated that the growth was fueled by young minority voters, and that they have only 38% of the state\u2019s polling places despite making up \u201cnearly half\u201d of the active voters. She then said that the number of drop boxes for ballots was cut, even though the average number of voters at each polling location \u201cgrew by nearly 40%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrian Kemp is a liar, and Brian Kemp tried to play a partisan card that you just dismantled for your audience tonight. Look, you will hear Republicans, particularly Georgia Republicans, try to compare the Georgia law to other states,\u201d Jolly chimed in. \u201cThey like to compare it to Delaware because that\u2019s President Biden\u2019s state \u2026 but the bottom line question, Joy, is under the new Georgia law, is it easier or harder to vote in Georgia this year than it was last year? And the answer is it\u2019s harder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to claim that it\u2019s harder to get a mail-in ballot, harder to get a mail-in ballot counted, and harder for local election supervisors to \u201cfavorably resolve conflicts\u201d for voters. He added that in the urban areas of Atlanta, the number of drop boxes \u201cwill drop from 93 or 94 this past election, to 23 or 24 in the next election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when Brian Kemp plays the race card and says this is a Democratic problem in Democratic communities, what he\u2019s saying is black communities. That\u2019s what he\u2019s saying, but it\u2019s a bald-faced lie and he knows it,\u201d Jolly concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have heavily\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/14\/jake-tapper-stacey-abrams-voter-fraud-suppression-georgia-jim-crow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criticized<\/a>\u00a0the new law, describing it as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/26\/jim-crow-2-0-critics-georgia-bill-kemp-abrams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">voter suppression<\/a>\u00a0tactic against minority voters. Republican\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/30\/alisyn-camerota-butch-miller-georgia-election-bill-law-voter-fraud-suppression\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">legislators<\/a> in Georgia, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/02\/caved-to-fear-gov-kemp-slams-mlb-for-pulling-all-star-game-out-of-georgia-due-to-new-voting-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kemp<\/a>, have pushed back on the criticism, calling it a \u201cfalse narrative,\u201d and saying, \u201cwe will continue to stand up for secure, accessible, fair elections.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Republican Florida Rep.
