According to the guidelines, employees cannot \u201ccondone, engage, or assist in illegal conduct or speech\u201d regardless of whether they are \u201cacting in a business or personal capacity on social media.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The policy does not define what constitutes \u201cillegal speech,\u201d though a whistleblower told The Daily Wire that he believes the statement remains intentionally vague to \u201csilence conservatives and libertarians in general.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Deloitte employees must also refrain from commenting on a slew of topics for fear that they may be contributing to \u201ca hostile work environment.\u201d Employees cannot criticize anyone for their \u201crace, religion, creed, color, citizenship, national origin, age, sex, pregnancy, gender, gender identity\/expression, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other legally protected basis.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The policy does not offer religious exemptions. The Daily Wire asked Deloitte whether it would punish a Christian employee for criticizing gay marriage. The firm did not respond to request for comment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A whistleblower, who spoke to The Daily Wire on the condition of anonymity, said that the firm\u2019s previous social media policy was geared toward asking employees to be mindful of how they represent the company and asked them to be careful about revealing client information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe new changes could be described as aligning with one political party talking points and punishing employees for perceived aggressions,\u201d the whistleblower said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The policy encourages employees to express their views, though it warns with vague descriptions that \u201cinappropriate social media communications\u201d will not be tolerated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe U.S.-based firms respect the decision of personnel to express perspectives on important societal issues,\u201d the policy reads. \u201cHowever, the U.S.-based firms expressly prohibit personnel from engaging in inappropriate social media communications, regardless of whether such communication are personal or professional and whether such communications involve statements, images, videos, or other audio or visual communications.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Employees must also avoid being \u201cdiscriminatory, harassing, malicious, bullying, obscene, or abusive.\u201d It is unclear what views are considered \u201cdiscriminatory\u201d or \u201charassing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Deloitte has instituted other policies aimed at controlling employee\u2019s speech in the name of \u201cinclusion.\u201d In March, the financial conglomerate told employees that unintentional \u201cmicroaggressions\u201d are considered a punishable offense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The firm has instituted an \u201canti-racist\u201d culture that requires U.S. offices to investigate all violations of \u201canti-racist\u201d policies. Employees were told that \u201cviolation of [Deloitte\u2019s] policies could extend to \u2018microaggressions.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMicroaggressions\u201d training for employees provided scenarios of unacceptable behavior. One example included \u201casking your Black male colleague to join the flag football or basketball team.
