Guilty. Guilty.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.3069306930693\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No. No. No. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tC95w0ITUc\">https:\/\/t.co\/tC95w0ITUc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ben Crump (@AttorneyCrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AttorneyCrump\/status\/1389717479803572230?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As highlighted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/from-michael-brown-to-makhia-bryant-meet-the-lawyer-whose-false-claims-fueled-a-generation-of-black-lives-matter-violence\">The Daily Wire<\/a>,\u00a0Crump has a reputation for spreading misinformation when claiming alleged police brutality and so-called \u201csystemic racism\u201d in high-profile cases.<\/p>\n<p>Chauvin attorney Eric Nelson on Tuesday filed\u00a0a motion for a new trial, following the conviction of his client last month for the murder of Floyd. The former police officer was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chauvin-juror-speaks-out-to-help-push-for-change-suggests-hes-been-pulled-over-by-cops-because-hes-black\">found guilty<\/a> of\u00a0second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson claimed in the filing that his client\u2019s right to due process and a fair trial was violated, in part, when the court decided against sequestering the jury and granting a venue change, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/derek-chauvins-attorney-files-motion-for-new-trial\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Court abused its discretion when it failed to sequester the jury for the duration of the trial, or in the least, admonish them to avoid all media, which resulted in jury exposure to prejudicial publicity regarding the trial during the proceedings, as well as jury intimidation and potential fear of retribution among jurors, which violated Mr. Chauvin\u2019s constitutional rights to due process and to a fair trial,\u201d the filing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/derek-chauvins-attorney-files-motion-for-new-trial\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among other concerns, Nelson separately requested a hearing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/derek-chauvins-attorney-files-motion-for-new-trial\">throw out the verdict<\/a> \u201con the grounds that the jury committed misconduct, felt threatened or intimidated, felt race-based pressure during the proceedings, and\/or failed to adhere to instructions during deliberations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Days ago, it was revealed that now-public juror\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chauvin-juror-speaks-out-to-help-push-for-change-suggests-hes-been-pulled-over-by-cops-because-hes-black\">Brandon Mitchell<\/a>, 31, back in August, wore a \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d and a T-shirt that says \u201cBLM\u201d with the words, \u201cGet Your Knee Off Our Necks,\u201d a reference to the death of Floyd. He also attended a\u00a0racial justice rally in Washington, D.C., which in part focused on police brutality and featured remarks from members of the Floyd family.<\/p>\n<p>The revelations seem to contradict statements Mitchell gave to the court during the jury selection process. For example, on his\u00a0juror questionnaire, Mitchell reportedly answered \u201cno\u201d when asked about past participation in demonstrations.
