We would love to know the answer,\u201d Carlson said. \u201cWe asked several times of his office and no one got back to us with an answer. If Kevin McCarthy isn\u2019t paying market price, he is likely violating House Ethics rules on taking gifts. And someday we have no doubt we will find out exactly what he is paying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for McCarthy told The Daily Wire exclusively on Tuesday afternoon that McCarthy rents a room from Luntz and that he pays slightly above what the going rate is for similar sized spaces in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson said, \u201cMcCarthy rented a room of approximately 400 square feet, and under House Ethics guidelines, calculated the fair market amount at $1,500\/month by comparing what other members of Congress were also paying to live in the building and additional comparables for the space in the building and neighborhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A brief review by The Daily Wire of similar sized spaces in the area show that the recent average price per square foot was approximately $3.
