The show was originally slated as a bridge from Marvel\u2019s first major story arc into its second one, pieces of which will begin to hit theaters starting later this year with the second installment of the Doctor Strange franchise, \u201cDoctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All season long, Marvel stars teased a major cameo in the show\u2019s season finale, but fans were left disappointed when it turned out the \u201ccameo\u201d was just Bettany in a different role.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/wandavision-doctor-strange-cameo\/\">interview with Rolling Stone<\/a>, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explains that yes, Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, was set to appear in the \u201cWandaVision\u201d finale, but the \u201cWandaVision\u201d team decided against it, almost at the last minute, to avoid it looking as though a \u201cwhite guy\u201d would have to save Wanda and her imprisoned neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>Feige also implied that the \u201cWandaVision\u201d team didn\u2019t want it to seem as though Doctor Strange needed to explain \u2014 or man-splain \u2014 to the novice witch Wanda how to use her magic powers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome people might say, \u2018Oh, it would\u2019ve been so cool to see Doctor Strange,\u2019\u201d Feige said. \u201cBut it would have taken away from Wanda. We didn\u2019t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie \u2014 here\u2019s the white guy, \u2018Let me show you how power works.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWandaVision\u201d team was already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/pop-culture\/wandavision-director-says-popular-fan-theories-were-correct-until-last-minute-changes\">reported to have made significant changes to the show\u2019s major plotlines<\/a> after fans guessed some of the big reveals early on, but the team seems to have pulled Doctor Strange\u2019s appearance at the last minute. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2021\/05\/doctor-strange-cut-wandavision-finale-white-guy-savior-1234634909\/\">IndieWire reports<\/a> that Cumberbatch had already inked a deal to appear in one episode of the series, and that a series of \u201ccommercials\u201d that appeared on the show, during breaks from Wanda\u2019s self-created sitcom world, were supposed to be messages from Wanda to the Sorcerer Supreme, as the two tried to break open a line of communication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoctor Strange was going to arrive in the finale, and \u2018Marvel had even finalized a deal with Cumberbatch to appear in the season\u2019s final episode,\u2019\u201d IndieWire reported. \u201cThe plan got nixed so that \u2018WandaVision\u2019 could stand on its own and to also avoid a male character arriving to save the day and explain Wanda\u2019s powers to her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wanda\u2019s fully realized Scarlet Witch is expected to appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
