Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Tuesday shortly before he went on-air for a live interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she\u2019s got real problems,\u201d McCarthy told Fox News host Steve Doocy right before appearing on \u201cFox and Friends,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/iz-cheney-kevin-mccarthy-hot-mic-9ac0f8b7-c4ab-4c26-9d1d-1466505ae10b.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Axios<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve had it with \u2026 I\u2019ve had it with her. You know, I\u2019ve lost confidence. \u2026 Well, someone just has to bring a motion, but I assume that will probably take place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe comments, made amid seeming cross-talk with Doocy, outlined how the House conference chair could be removed by a vote from the chamber\u2019s Republican members,\u201d Axios further reported.<\/p>\n<p><noscript>Watch the latest video at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\">foxnews.com<\/a><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>During the on-air interview, McCarthy said Republicans have \u201cno concern\u201d regarding Cheney\u2019s vote to impeach former President Donald Trump, but did explain concerns regarding her ability to lead as House Republican conference chair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no concern about how she voted on impeachment. That decision has been made,\u201d said McCarthy. \u201cI have heard from members concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair, to carry out the message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t heard members concerned about her vote on impeachment. It\u2019s more concerned about the job, ability to do, and what\u2019s our best step forward that we can all work together instead of attacking one another,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<p>In response to McCarthy\u2019s interview, Cheney spokesperson Jeremy Adler said, \u201cThis is about whether the Republican Party is going to perpetuate lies about the 2020 election and attempt to whitewash what happened on January 6. Liz will not do that. That is the issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy\u2019s off-air comments echoed some of his top allies, who <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/551548-mccarthy-allies-take-aim-at-cheney\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Monday: \u201cThere is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month\u2019s end. When there is a vote, it won\u2019t be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is a big distraction,\u201d the ally added. \u201cI don\u2019t see McCarthy saving her this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a broad range of lawmakers who have had it with her,\u201d another McCarthy ally said. \u201cShe\u2019s a liability, and McCarthy\u2019s as fed up as the rest of us that she is focused on the past rather than winning back the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cheney has created \u201cdifficulties\u201d for the Republican Party by constantly criticizing Trump, McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-hammers-liz-cheney-for-not-being-a-team-player-it-creates-difficulties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in late April, and he claimed he has privately advised her to tone down her attacks.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday afternoon, Trump released a statement blasting Cheney:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p><em>Heartwarming to read new polls on big-shot warmonger Liz Cheney of the great State of Wyoming.
