And I served for a couple of years as the spokesman for the police athletic league.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd as that grew and things didn\u2019t necessarily get better around us with these relations, I just wanted to do more,\u201d Brewer continued. \u201cI started to do a lot of teaching and we started programs in partnership with the Fordham Gabelli School of Business, and now with Liberty University. I started teaching professional athletes and I started teaching in the prisons, and I just noticed that one thing that was keeping us divided was that access to education.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Yes. Want more? <\/i><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/subscribe?utm_source=adwords&#038;utm_term=daily%20wire&#038;utm_campaign=Search+-+Daily+Wire+Brand&#038;utm_medium=ppc&#038;hsa_kw=daily%20wire&#038;hsa_ad=432007871445&#038;hsa_src=g&#038;hsa_ver=3&#038;hsa_grp=71680674390&#038;hsa_cam=927227687&#038;hsa_tgt=kwd-316236076046&#038;hsa_acc=6411461344&#038;hsa_mt=p&#038;hsa_net=adwords&#038;gclid=Cj0KCQjw1PSDBhDbARIsAPeTqrfwVNC1MZnI5ZRWdzEbOk3Pjz0oFVeTr7sA8iGOgsyrhbqydkk91vsaAkuXEALw_wcB\"><b><i>Become a member.<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Brewer was determined to continue improving access to education for those who lack it, especially inner city kids who might struggle with reading and math.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNot just sports, not just the community building, and to actually start doing something about this crazy educational gap that we have that\u2019s leaving these inner city kids reading and math proficiency levels lower than third world countries,\u201d Brewer said. \u201cSo, I was blessed to be able to put together some curriculum and we started with our American Heroes (one of Brewer\u2019s programs) and we started to work in the grammar, started to work in the etiquette training, started to work in some of these ancillary educational opportunities that are being pulled out of the public schools.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Starting in May, Brewer\u2019s work will reach an important milestone as he\u2019ll open up the \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/brewer-foundation.org\"><span>Serving Institute<\/span><\/a><span>,\u201d which will offer a faith-based education to kids, something lacking in most public schools.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAs of this year, (I\u2019m) proud to announce we\u2019re going to be opening up our first \u2018Serving Institute,\u2019 which will offer a private school faith-based curriculum, that we partner with Liberty university on \u2014 and also our sports programs and our value building programs, our etiquette programs, our grammar programs \u2014 to really try to give the kids access to the education that unfortunately, most public schools are just not delivering. And we also have intervention training. So we\u2019re doing assessments on all our kids and doing extra work throughout the summer to help them get their reading and math proficiency levels up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd then we\u2019re teaching them how to be gentlemen, teaching them how to be servant leaders. That\u2019s why we\u2019re called the \u2018Serving Institute.\u2019 Every kid will be required to serve his community, feeding those that are less fortunate \u2014 even if they themselves are less fortunate \u2014 we\u2019re going to take them to go do our serving projects. We\u2019re going to continue our sports equipment drives that we do around the globe with these kids and teach them that through service, they can also empower themselves while they\u2019re empowering their communities, and it\u2019s going to be faith based and we\u2019re excited.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In speaking with Brewer, the passion for his faith comes across clearly, and he\u2019s adamant that faith will be a large part of his program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe gotta get God back in our schools. I\u2019m a believer in that,\u201d Brewer said. \u201cAnd most importantly, we gotta get discipline back in our schools because when you\u2019re raised in discipline, then you demand discipline from other people as well. And right now we\u2019ve gotten so free \u2014 when they pulled the paddles out of the schools in the mid eighties \u2014 that\u2019s where this all started. I say it all the time, some kids need the paddle. They need that, that fear of authority being able to tell them what\u2019s right or wrong. That\u2019s why you see people disrespecting cops like they do now.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWell, none of that\u2019s going to go down in my school. I can\u2019t paddle them, but I\u2019m going to do everything except for that. If you do anything that\u2019s disrespectful, speak disrespectfully, if you don\u2019t show the highest level of discipline, I will physically exert you as your punishment so that you understand that you have to be held accountable.
