The photo was reportedly taken in D.C., where Mitchell attended a rally commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.\u2019s 1963 \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d speech, and addressing other racial issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d never been to D.C.,\u201d Mitchell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/chauvin-juror-defends-participation-in-march-on-washington-after-social-media-post-surfaces\/600053102\/?refresh=true\">told<\/a> the Star Tribune. \u201cThe opportunity to go to D.C., the opportunity to be around thousands and thousands of black people; I just thought it was a good opportunity to be a part of something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"Y9o3fl\">Mitchell confirmed that the social media post showing him in D.C. for the demonstration was, in fact,\u00a0posted by his uncle. However, he bizarrely claimed that \u201che\u00a0has no recollection of wearing or owning the shirt\u201d he is wearing in the photo.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.0810810810811\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Here is Juror #52 who said he was impartial during jury questioning. Also runs a podcast. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JaYM8RTwDj\">https:\/\/t.co\/JaYM8RTwDj<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LpmZ8bmD9L\">pic.twitter.com\/LpmZ8bmD9L<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jack Posobiec (@JackPosobiec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JackPosobiec\/status\/1388939550681182215?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"O7Xsaa\">Mitchell also defended his attendance, emphasizing that the march was \u201c100% not\u201d a demonstration for Floyd. \u201cIt was directly related to MLK\u2019s March on Washington from the \u201960s \u2026 The date of the March on Washington is the date,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Star Tribune noted that the demonstration in part \u201cfocused on police use of force.\u201d Moreover, \u201cFloyd\u2019s brother and sister, Philonise and Bridgett Floyd, and family members of others who have been shot by police addressed the crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rally \u201cserved as a rallying point for the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, a federal police reform bill,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n<p>On his juror questionnaire, Mitchell reportedly answered \u201cno\u201d when asked about past participation in demonstrations. Star Tribune reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"20\">\n<p id=\"rqRwRH\"><em>The first question asked, \u201cDid you, or someone close to you, participate in any of the demonstrations or marches against police brutality that took place in Minneapolis after George Floyd\u2019s death?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"f0m8fp\"><em>The second asked, \u201cOther than what you have already described above, have you, or anyone close to you, participated in protests about police use of force or police brutality?\u201d<\/em>Related:\u00a0Report: Floyd Juror Wore BLM Shirt Referencing Floyd In July, Challenging What He Told Defense During Jury Selection<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Moreover,\u00a0<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">when Mitchell was asked by Judge Peter Cahill on March 15, 2021, if he knew anything about the Chauvin\/Floyd case, he said no, according to FOX 9 reporter Paul Blume.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cJudge Cahill asked Juror #52, whether he heard anything about the <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">#GeorgeFloyd<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> civil case,\u201d Blume reported at the time. \u201cHe says, no.
