A number of them are saying they agree with us,\u201d McConnell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/mcconnell-no-gop-senator-will-back-bidens-4t-infrastructure-plan\"><span class=\"s1\">said<\/span><\/a> at a press conference. \u201cI think it\u2019s worth talking about, but I don\u2019t think there\u2019ll be any Republican senators, none, zero, for the $4.1 trillion grab bag, which has infrastructure in it, but a whole lot of other stuff.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">McConnell discussed the 2017 tax bill, which lowered the corporate tax rate to 21 percent, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/551465-mcconnell-no-senate-republicans-will-back-biden-on-4t?rl=1\"><span class=\"s1\">saying<\/span><\/a>, \u201cWe\u2019re not willing to pay for it by undoing the 2017 bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe\u2019re open to doing a roughly $600 billion package which deals with what all of us would agree is infrastructure and to talk about how to pay for that in any way other than reopening the 2017 tax reform bill, which I believe \u2013 and all of my members believe \u2013 is what created, as of February 2020, the best economy in 50 years,\u201d McConnell told reporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/mcconnell-no-gop-senator-will-back-bidens-4t-infrastructure-plan\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a> that a collection of moderate Republican senators led by Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) have called for an infrastructure project that would cost $568 billion. \u201cWhite House Press Secretary Jen Psaki signaled that proposal was the \u2018beginning of a discussion\u2019 on bipartisan legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last week, Biden laid out two of his plans to create major investments in key areas. The \u201cAmerican Families Plan\u201d is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/preview-president-biden-to-unveil-1-8-trillion-american-families-plan-during-his-address-to-congress\"><span class=\"s1\">expected<\/span><\/a> to cost $1.8 trillion. It includes massive investments in education, families, expands the Child Tax Credit and creates the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit, which would let families receive up to half of their child care spending as a credit on their taxes, among other items.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The \u201cAmerican Jobs Plan\u201d has been touted as an infrastructure package, but it covers many sectors and is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/budgetmodel.wharton.upenn.edu\/issues\/2021\/4\/7\/president-biden-american-jobs-plan-effects\"><span class=\"s1\">projected<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to cost $2.7 trillion, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/president-biden-to-announce-multi-trillion-american-jobs-plan-in-first-address-to-congress\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/03\/31\/fact-sheet-the-american-jobs-plan\/\"><span class=\"s2\">statement<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on the plan, the White House said, \u201cthis is no time to build back to the way things were. This is the moment to reimagine and rebuild a new economy. The American Jobs Plan is an investment in America that will create millions of good jobs, rebuild our country\u2019s infrastructure, and position the United States to out-compete China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The plan includes investments in transportation infrastructure, schools, drinking water, VA hospitals and federal buildings, care economy, manufacturers and small businesses, as well as workforce development.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Alongside the American Jobs Plan, Biden proposed the \u201cMade In America Tax Plan\u201d in order to pay for the infrastructure package by setting the corporate tax rate at 28%, among other changes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/preview-president-biden-to-unveil-1-8-trillion-american-families-plan-during-his-address-to-congress\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>, \u201cThe\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/57030\"><span class=\"s1\">Congressional Budget Office<\/span><\/a>\u00a0estimated Biden\u2019s American Rescue Plan would add $1.9 trillion to the deficit over the next decade.
