Ilhan Omar, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Cori Bush, Rep. Jamaal Bowman, and others who are demanding Trump be immediately convicted in the United States Senate. Trump must also be banned from holding elected office in the future,\u201d the group <a href=\"https:\/\/blacklivesmatter.com\/blm-demands\/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=417c881ae4838d2569e43c50d47f399fe0e07e9c-1619982709-0-AZAmiJHqIu6H3ekrVldbnJF038d7XMZpaBzg7UawcE2pNNHWcL-nT1PSgcy_bTDIixEvAARMNugf3gjAP4cXkG3sXqLeEsl8hE8GVkBnucdlGDazU70dc7J3P9bJxWG4c_HZzeL7M_1WmtfN3X22HZZtPglVYooRcw6XF1eGEoQHso9XUQzxp_nPvDsVere6aDo1gnT9EBcyGvIboG09zXw_QFsy9LXwoiHbJaLmt_t9fo7YfCVvdWDJHW_bCduJIUyn2Na_TjxTE1PQjNaGI0KWvYo0C-WWvJvquxlqh9QwsjBUY8UvUafbL7NkMPtfUGLSocGH5b-0HC2nuvo-v3vvnCT2J4w_ql62rv6iHB56YxGe8EiTAkw8jaSYDeJB3cNh-dJlJfCufOAlXofdqjvDYbHoWwMwA_OJhiEWRHhf8JlFIEb3TTORjmVO8jqNaf5PJfnxxGCypzowKV6YvGZ5nw14luu0dJWJ-rCI9HTn\">says in its updated demands<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump must also be \u201cpermanently\u201d banned from social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump has always used his digital media platforms recklessly and irresponsibly to spread lies and disinformation. Now it is clearer than ever that his digital media is also used to incite violence and promote its continuation. He must be stopped from encouraging his mob and further endangering our communities, even after the inauguration,\u201d the group says.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, of course, has been banned from Twitter since January. Instead of using the social media platform, Trump has used an email list of supporters, journalists, and other influencers, to get his message out \u2014 and often, those influencers simply screenshot Trump\u2019s comments and put them on social media, thus providing the former president with a successful workaround.<\/p>\n<p>BLM doesn\u2019t simply want Trump punished, though. They want consequences for any Republican that expressed concern about the final Electoral College vote count or expressed even tepid support for President Donald Trump after the November election expelled from office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than half the Republican representatives and multiple senators stoked Trump\u2019s conspiracy theories and encouraged the white supremacists to take action to overturn the election. We are supporting Rep. Cori Bush\u2019s resolution to expel them from Congress for their dangerous and traitorous actions,\u201d the group demands. \u201cWe also support steps to bar them from seeking another office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s something most Democrats have since abandoned, given that it would take a two-thirds majority vote in both houses of Congress to officially expel any sitting member, per the United States Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>They also want the United States military and the Capitol Police investigated for \u201cties to white supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Capitol was able to be breached and overrun by white supremacists attempting to disrupt a political process that is fundamental to our democracy. We know that police departments have been a safe haven for white supremacists to hide malintent behind a badge because the badge was created for that purpose,\u201d BLM demands. \u201cWe also know off-duty cops and military were among the mob at the Capitol on January 6th. Guilty parties need to be held accountable and fired. We are supporting Rep. Jamaal Bowman\u2019s COUP Act to investigate these connections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BLM issued the demand in concert with a broader demand to \u201cdefund\u201d all police departments across the country, because, they claim,\u00a0 current and former law enforcement officials were involved in the January 6th riot: \u201cThe police that met our BLM protestors this summer with assault rifles, teargas, and military-grade protective gear were the same police that, on Wednesday, met white supremacists with patience and the benefit of the doubt, going so far as to pose for selfies with rioters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Black Lives Matter seems to ignore that the group\u2019s \u201cfreedom summer\u201d protests often ended in riots and destruction; in some cases, the riots and arson associated with, or which followed, anti-police brutality and anti-racism protests in the summer of 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/riots-cost-property-damage-276c9bcc-a455-4067-b06a-66f9db4cea9c.html\">caused more than a billion dollars in damage<\/a> and often left minority neighborhoods ravaged.<\/p>\n<p>There is one area where BLM is cognizant of how the Capitol riots and \u201cfreedom summer\u201d connect, and that is how law enforcement might police future protests. In fact, though BLM\u2019s demand document targets Capitol rioters and their supporters directly, they end by demanding that politicians resist comparisons between the two \u2014 or undertake any meaningful effort to head off future incidents \u2014 unless they are willing to say tools designed to root out \u201cdomestic terrorism\u201d should be used only against \u201cwhite supremacists.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14\">\n<p>In response to the coup, Politicians have already introduced the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021. We\u2019ve seen this playbook before. These laws are used to target Black and brown communities for heightened surveillance. Republicans are already busy trying to create an equivalence between the mob on January 6th and our Freedom Summer. We don\u2019t need new domestic terror laws, facial recognition, or any other new police power for the state. Our government should protect righteous protest and stay focused on the real issue: rooting out white supremacy. There are enough laws, resources, and intelligence, but they were not used to stop the coup. Our elected officials must uncover why.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Black Lives Matter may be working diligently to address the January 6th riots and other \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d incidents in order to create a public perception of a shift to national priorities.<\/p>\n<p>BLM\u2019s national organization is under scrutiny for how it spends money, facing criticism, particularly, from the families of black victims of police-involved shootings. The families of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/michael-brown-sr-and-ferguson-activists-request-20-million-blm-2021-3\">Michael Brown<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essence.com\/news\/mother-of-tamir-rice-tells-activists-to-stop-profiting-off-her-sons-death\/\">Tamir Rice<\/a>, and others claim they\u2019ve seen little in the way of financial support from the national Black Lives Matter organization, despite BLM pulling down nearly $90 million following George Floyd\u2019s death in May of 2020, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/records-show-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-jail-reform-campaign-gave-60k-to-her-consultancy-thousands-more-for-friends-and-luxury-malibu-resort\">spending thousands at luxury resorts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fraud-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-blasted-over-real-estate-buying-binge\">faced criticism over a \u201creal-estate buying binge<\/a>\u201d that saw the prominent racial justice leader purchase several multi-million-dollar homes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"css-j7qwjs\">\n<div id=\"post-body-text\" readability=\"32.04347826087\">\n<div class=\"e12o35pe0 css-1wr5klf\" readability=\"10.68115942029\">\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
