Will they seek compromise to work on the many issues on which the church agrees with Biden, such as refugees and immigration and poverty?\u201d Boorstein asked.<\/p>\n<p>The Post\u2019s tweet and article was not well-received by many on social media, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9529257\/Washington-Post-fire-labelling-Biden-Catholic-pro-choice-row-bishops.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden faces a potential formal rebuke by the\u00a0U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), whose Committee on Doctrine will be drafting a document this June that will clarify their position regarding the longstanding question of how to handle Catholic politicians who are in open defiance of Church teaching on abortion. The bishops could potentially demand the president and other pro-abortion politicians no longer take Communion.<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/a-unique-problem-u-s-catholic-bishops-may-demand-biden-other-pro-abortion-politicians-stop-taking-communion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"31.92666157372\">\n<p><em>Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, who is chairman of the USCCB\u2019s Committee on Pro-Life Activities, has publicly and repeatedly rebuked Biden for supporting abortion, going so far as to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/archbishop-of-kansas-city-joe-biden-should-stop-defining-himself-as-a-devout-catholic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">say<\/a> the president \u201cshould stop defining himself as a devout Catholic.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBecause President Biden is Catholic, it presents a unique problem for us,\u201d Naumann told the AP. \u201cIt can create confusion. \u2026 How can he say he\u2019s a devout Catholic and he\u2019s doing these things that are contrary to the church\u2019s teaching?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Naumann said the document, which the committee is preparing at the request of USCCB president Archbishop Jos\u00e9 Gomez of Los Angeles, will clarify as the official position of the USCCB that any Catholic politician who supports legalized abortion should not take Communion.
