Wolf \u2018responded to the claims on Twitter and accused Biden of lying while trying to scapegoat former President Donald Trump\u2019s administration for Biden\u2019s policy failures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I respect the Presidency, this is a pure lie. The admin is looking for any reason to explain the crisis they created. We briefed the transition team numerous, numerous times,\u201d Wolf said.<\/p>\n<p>Wolf also hit back at claims by Biden that Trump had left DHS and the Department of Defense understaffed after firing many officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the reference to firing officials is lunacy. Someone might want to remind the Admin that firing a federal employee is near impossible. Biden said the crisis is a result of \u201cthe failure to have a real transition \u2014 cooperation from the last administration, like every other administration has done,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/white-house\/one-god-awful-mess-biden-lays-border-crisis-trump-admin-n1265908\">NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two departments that didn\u2019t give us access to virtually anything were the immigration and the Defense Department,\u201d Biden said. He added that both departments were \u201cunderstaffed considerably\u201d by the time he took office.<\/p>\n<p>Americans largely disapprove of how Biden is handling the border crisis. The Biden administration and Democratic leaders have refused to call the flood of illegal immigration a \u201ccrisis,\u201d repeatedly referring to the situation on the border as a challenge. Americans broadly consider the southern border to be in \u201ccrisis,\u201d however, according to polling. As The Daily Wore reports:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"22.755319148936\">\n<p><em>A large majority of Americans believe the border situation is a crisis and do not approve of how President Joe Biden is handling it, according to a recent\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnn\/2021\/images\/04\/28\/rel3bbiden100days.pdf\">CNN poll<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Of those polled, 78% view what is going on at the border as a crisis, compared to only 19% who believe otherwise. CNN also determined that 65% of voters disapprove of how Biden is handling the situation, which contrasts sharply with the 29% who approve.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The poll, which questioned 1,004 people between April 21-26 with a margin of error of 3.6 points, also discerned that the chaos at the border has led voters to lose enthusiasm regarding Biden\u2019s overall immigration agenda.
