The package totals $1.8 trillion in new spending. The other half of the spending initiative, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/president-biden-to-announce-multi-trillion-american-jobs-plan-in-first-address-to-congress\">American Jobs Plan<\/a>, costs another $2.7 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>Progressive Democrats in Congress claim that the American Families Plan is too important to risk failing, dismissing concerns that Congress is not able to locate enough funds to pay for it. A group of senators is pushing to enact the American Families Plan through deficit spending that would further balloon the national debt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a big pay-for guy,\u201d Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/senate-democrats-biden-family-plan-2f8212cf-31aa-4971-a60f-8c1c9bac072a.html\">Axios<\/a>. \u201cI think some investments are worth deficit financing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody asks how we\u2019re going to pay for the United States military,\u201d Schatz said. \u201cNobody really asked how we were going to finance the tax cuts for the very wealthy. It\u2019s only when it comes to progressive priorities that everybody freaks out and tries to find pay-fors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said: \u201cI think there\u2019s plenty of money in this country to pay for smart investments. But at the same time, if it\u2019s a good investment, I don\u2019t know that it needs to be fully paid for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy view is I think we need to pay for part of it on the infrastructure angle \u2026 but not totally,\u201d Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), who sits on the Senate appropriations committee, agreed. \u201cI think we should find a way to pay for half of it upfront and then hopefully with good infrastructure, it\u2019ll create economic growth and pick up the other half.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moderate Democrats such as Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) have balked at the new spending bills, raising concerns among Democratic Party leadership that Democrats in Congress will not get a chance at even passing the massive spending bills through reconciliation, the only way Democrats could enact the bills without bipartisan support. Democrats hold the Senate in a 50-50 split with Republicans, so one Democrat defector would tank the bills\u2019 chances of passing.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin is reportedly discussing a possible \u201cscaled-down\u201d version of Biden\u2019s American Jobs Plan that could get GOP support for more spending on U.S. infrastructure. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/report-joe-manchin-meeting-with-republicans-drafting-scaled-down-version-of-biden-infrastructure-bill\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"20.140350877193\">\n<p><em>On Sunday,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/04\/25\/politics\/joe-manchin-joe-biden-infrastructure-bill-cnntv\/index.html\">Manchin told CNN that<\/a>\u00a0he is \u201cnot a roadblock at all\u201d to Biden\u2019s efforts, but that he would like a \u201cmore targeted\u201d bill, focused on funding traditional, physical infrastructure improvements, with a second, separate $400 billion bill funding things like a Medicare expansion.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI do think they should be separated,\u201d Manchin told the network. \u201cBecause when you start putting so much into one bill, which we call an omnibus, it makes it very, very difficult for the public to understand.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
