Each time she joined the propaganda-pushing network, she talked about climate change, thanks in large part to her credibility as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and her environmental e-newsletter, Our Daily Planet.<\/p>\n<p>Medina is now part of the Biden administration, where she serves as Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Science Affairs, which falls under the State Department.<\/p>\n<p>On June 20, 2019, Medina appeared on CGTN America to discuss the effects climate change is having on China\u2019s coastal industries. In that segment, she praised two of the CCP\u2019s initiatives that she\u2019s claimed were making an impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evidence is <em>entirely<\/em> behind the notion that either country, in the U.S. or in China, to see the impacts, to see the fish stock shifting. Thanks <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CGTNOfficial?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CGTNOfficial<\/a> for having me on to talk about oceans and climate change in China. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QXabzzMmOI\">https:\/\/t.co\/QXabzzMmOI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Monica Medina (@MonicaMedinaDC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MonicaMedinaDC\/status\/1142064317929533441?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 21, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfr.org\/backgrounder\/chinas-massive-belt-and-road-initiative\">Council on Foreign Relations<\/a>, Chinese President Xi Jinping launched the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, which includes a \u201cvast collection of development and investment initiatives\u201d that \u201cwould stretch from East Asia to Europe, significantly expanding China\u2019s economic and political influence.\u201d The project is believed to be China\u2019s latest infrastructure project aimed at obtaining an economic advantage over the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In an October 2019 appearance, Medina praised teen Greta Thunberg for bringing attention to the issue of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do think there is something about Greta Thunberg\u2019s leadership,\u201d Medina said about Thunberg\u2019s activism. \u201cIn the last year, she\u2019s empowered a lot of young people, but predominantly women and young women, and I think it\u2019s because they see her as having an effective voice. And, again, they\u2019re thinking ahead. During that segment, she talked about the impact festivals and concerts have on the surrounding environment, particularly with regard to how much trash events produce. She praised the UK and a few individual states in the U.S. that have made more \u201cclimate-friendly\u201d moves, like banning plastic straws or taxing plastic bottles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe generation that attends these festivals are the perfect ones to educate about this issue and help them because they want to be more sustainable in everything that they do,\u201d Medina said. \u201cSo they\u2019re ready and willing, to change their ways, to not bring things in and just leave them there. First, it violates President Biden\u2019s promise to keep family members from being involved in government decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to run this like the Obama-Biden administration. No one in our family and extended family is going to be involved in any government undertaking or foreign policy.
