Version: 4.0.47--><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-rudy-giuliani\">Rudy Giuliani<\/a>\u2019s attorney accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) of a \u201ccorrupt double standard\u201d by executing warrants against Giuliani on suspicion of failing to register as a foreign agent, while allegedly ignoring \u201cclear evidence\u201d on a laptop purporting to belong to Hunter Biden that would support similar allegations and a probe.<\/p>\n<p>Federal investigators on Wednesday executed search warrants at the home and office of Giuliani, the former\u00a0New York\u00a0City mayor and attorney to former President Donald Trump, and seized electronic devices, Bob Costello, Giuliani\u2019s attorney,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/C_Sommerfeldt\/status\/1387481160910004229?s=20\">confirmed in a statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Costello said the devices seized by investigators at Giuliani\u2019s office are \u201creplete with material covered by the attorney-client privilege,\u201d and complained that their seizure amounted to a \u201cdisturbing example of complete disregard\u201d for the constitutionally-protected privilege.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney alleged that the DOJ was biased in its actions as it \u201ccompletely ignored clear evidence\u201d on a laptop hard drive purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden, of apparent wrongdoing, including of failing to register as a foreign agent.<\/p>\n<p>Costello said that the search warrants executed against Giuliani involve \u201conly one indication of an alleged incident of failure to register as a foreign agent,\u201d charges he said Giuliani has denied and repeatedly offered to prove to investigators that the allegations are untrue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwice, Mr. Giuliani\u2019s counsel offered to sit with the SDNY and demonstrate that Mr. Giuliani\u2019s conduct was lawful,\u201d Costello said, questioning whether the judge who signed the warrants had been informed about the offer and suggesting the decision to proceed with the search warrants was politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is totally unnecessary,\u201d Costello <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/feds-search-giuliani-apartment-ukraine-investigation\">told Fox News<\/a> on Wednesday, adding that the raid was carried out to \u201cmake him look like he\u2019s some sort of criminal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times reached out to the DOJ with a request for comment on Costello\u2019s statement, but did not receive a response by press time.\u00a0FBI officials and Giuliani\u2019s team didn\u2019t respond to earlier requests for comment by The Epoch Times on the warrants.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement, Costello blamed \u201cTrump Derangement Syndrome\u201d and \u201chatred\u201d as driving this \u201cunjustified and unethical attack\u201d on Giuliani, whose conduct he insisted \u201cwas absolutely legal and ethical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In late 2019, amid the first House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_breakingnews\/federal-investigators-search-rudy-giulianis-apartment-seize-laptops-lawyer_3794871.html\">impeachment inquiry<\/a> against Trump about a conversation he had with Ukraine\u2019s president in July of that year, prosecutors charged two alleged former associates to Giuliani,\u00a0Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, with unrelated crimes regarding alleged campaign finance violations.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3112699\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-460775\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\"  style=\"display:none\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128-922x615.jpeg 922w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128-675x450.jpeg 675w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-2128-480x320.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3112699\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-4048.jpeg\" alt=\"Parnas-Fruman\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/noscript>Lev Parnas (L) and Igor Fruman are seen in undated mugshots. (Alexandria Sheriff\u2019s office)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Jan. 20 of last year, Giuliani appeared on Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Ingraham Angle\u201d and said he\u2019s no longer close to Parnas, a former client, and claimed that Parnas was lying about some of his claims.<\/p>\n<p>One example,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/giuliani-associate-lev-parnas-asks-william-barr-to-recuse-himself_3210944.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Giuliani<\/a>, was a claim that Parnas met with Trump at the White House during Hanukkah and was deputized by the president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe meeting never took place,\u201d Giuliani told Fox News at the time. \u201cThe records indicate that it never took place. He lied. The man is a demonstrated liar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLev is someone I was close to. Obviously, I was misled by him. I feel very bad. I still feel sorry for him. I\u2019m not going to respond to him for each and every one of the misrepresentations he\u2019s made, because there were so many,\u201d he said. \u201cIf I\u2019m called as a witness, I\u2019m prepared to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before that, Giuliani, who was Trump\u2019s personal attorney at the time,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CuomoPrimeTime\/status\/1174868101675925504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1174868101675925504%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fclips%2F2019%2F09%2F19%2Fgiuliani-of-course-i-asked-ukraine-to-look-into-biden%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0CNN in 2019 that he asked Ukrainian officials to look into then-candidate Joe Biden before he noted that he \u201casked them to look into the allegations that related to my client [Trump], which, tangentially, involved Joe Biden in a massive bribery scheme, not unlike what he did in China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked the Ukraine to investigate the allegations that there was interference in the election of 2016 by the Ukrainians for the benefit of Hillary Clinton,\u201d Giuliani said.<\/p>\n<p>When FBI officials searched the home of Trump\u2019s former lawyer Michael Cohen the former president said it was part of a \u201cwitch hunt\u201d against him on behalf of the federal law enforcement agency.
