I\u2019m praying the verdict is the right verdict, which is, I think it\u2019s overwhelming, in my view. I wouldn\u2019t say that unless the jury is sequestered,\u201d he continued.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On May 25, Chauvin and three other officers arrested and detained Floyd after he allegedly gave counterfeit money at a convenience store. Following a struggle to get Floyd into the back of a police cruiser, viral video shows that\u00a0Chauvin kneeled on Floyd\u2019s neck and back for nearly nine minutes to detain Floyd while awaiting paramedics.<\/p>\n<p>Chauvin\u2019s attorney Eric Nelson argued during the trial that Floyd\u2019s drug use and bad heart were crucial factors in his death, and that Chauvin used reasonable force through an authorized prone hold. The Hennepin County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/medical-examiner-concluded-george-floyd-likely-died-of-fentanyl-overdose-court-docs-reveal\">medical examiner<\/a>\u00a0revealed that Floyd\u2019s autopsy showed the deceased had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/george-floyds-girlfriend-floyd-hospitalized-for-overdose-months-earlier-drug-dealer-with-him-during-arrest\">potentially lethal<\/a>\u00a0levels of drugs in his system.<\/p>\n<p>Before the verdict was announced, Nelson argued to\u00a0Judge Peter Cahill for a mistrial.\u00a0The defense attorney complained that the jury had not been sequestered for the trial, despite jurors likely being \u201cbombarded\u201d with outside messaging and media reports about the case.
