He said, \u2018If you\u2019re like 21 years old and you say to me, \u2018Should I get vaccinated?\u2019 I say, \u2018No.\u2019 If you\u2019re a healthy person, and you\u2019re exercising all the time, and you\u2019re young and you\u2019re eating well, I don\u2019t think you need to worry about this,\u2019 saying young, healthy people shouldn\u2019t get vaccinated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci said that Rogan\u2019s opinion was \u201cincorrect,\u201d arguing that young people can still spread the disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, that\u2019s incorrect, Savannah, and the reason why is that you\u2019re talking about yourself in a vacuum then,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re worried about yourself getting infected and [the] likelihood that you\u2019re not gonna get any symptoms, but you can get infected and will get infected if you put yourself at risk, and even if you don\u2019t have any symptoms, you\u2019re propagating the outbreak because it is likely that you \u2014 even if you have no symptoms \u2014 that you may inadvertently and innocently then infect someone else who might infect someone who really could have a problem with a severe outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if you want to only worry about yourself and not society, then that\u2019s okay, but if you\u2019re saying to yourself, \u2018Even if I get infected, I could do damage to somebody else, even if I have no symptoms at all,\u2019 and that\u2019s the reason why you\u2019ve got to be careful and get vaccinated,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.16091954023\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cYou can get infected, and will get infected, if you put yourself at risk.\u201d -Dr. Anthony Fauci responding to podcast host Joe Rogan\u2019s suggestion that young people not get the COVID-19 vaccine <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6E02GI31VV\">pic.twitter.com\/6E02GI31VV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TODAY (@TODAYshow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TODAYshow\/status\/1387366130306764801?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During his podcast on Tuesday, Rogan received criticism on social media when he said that both his children got COVID-19 and they did fine, arguing he would not have his children take the shot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if you\u2019re like 21 years old, and you say to me, \u2018Should I get vaccinated?\u2019 I\u2019ll go, \u2018No.\u2019 Are you healthy? Are you a healthy person? Like, look, don\u2019t do anything stupid, but you should take care of yourself,\u201d Rogen said. \u201cYou should \u2014 if you\u2019re a healthy person, and you\u2019re exercising all the time, and you\u2019re young, and you\u2019re eating well, like, I don\u2019t think you need to worry about this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth my children got the virus. It was nothing. I [mean], I hate to say that if someone\u2019s children died from this. I\u2019m very sorry that that happened. I\u2019m not in any way diminishing that. But I\u2019m saying the personal experience that my children had with COVID was nothing,\u201d Rogan added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s amazing that that\u2019s controversial. That even saying that I\u2019m not going to inject my child with the vaccine is controversial. It\u2019s crazy,\u201d he concluded. \u201cBecause again, we are not talking about even the flu that we just found out killed 22,000 people last year. We\u2019re not talking about that. We\u2019re talking about something that is not statistically dangerous for children. But yet people still want you to get your child vaccinated, which is crazy to me.
