Other than those two extra activities, the CDC guidelines offer virtually no distinction between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"6.6623376623377\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The full version of that cropped CDC guideline diagram from earlier today\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4pURD7I3XA\">pic.twitter.com\/4pURD7I3XA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mel Eatherington (@Prometheanne) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Prometheanne\/status\/1387174829120499712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For this incoherent messaging, \u201cThe Daily Show\u201d host Trevor Noah ripped into the CDC on his show Tuesday night, arguing that it will likely discourage people from getting the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know science is difficult, and this is a novel virus and all of that, but who\u2019s running messaging at the CDC? First, they said masks make us less safe. Don\u2019t wear a mask. Then they said, masks make us more safe. And now, according to this new chart, masks can make you not safe again? In fact, this whole chart is trash. Yeah, I said it,\u201d said Noah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole thing is too complicated. I have to sit here trying to interpret reds and yellows and greens \u2014 there\u2019s outdoor\/indoor, partial indoor, outdoor with the people who might be vaccinated, partially vaccinated. This is unreadable,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Noah expressed great frustration over the fact that the CDC spent as many as 5 months touting the vaccine\u2019s effectiveness only to rollout guidelines that virtually render the vaccine meaningless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe really frustrating thing about this chart is that they\u2019ve spent months, they\u2019ve spent 5 months telling us to get vaccinated. \u2018Oh, get vaccinated, and this will all be over. Get vaccinated!\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Great. I\u2019ll get all the four vaccines if it means I\u2019ll get my life back.\u2019 But now, now they\u2019re putting out a chart, and it says even if you get vaccinated, you can only do two more things without a mask on? Two? Guys, what the hell? The s*** you\u2019re saying to people is incoherent,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re telling us these new vaccines are 95% effective and will stop coronavirus, but we still can\u2019t do anything without a mask on anyway? Which is it? Is this one of the most effective vaccines in the history of the world, or does it not work? It\u2019s not clear messaging. Especially if you\u2019re desperately trying to convince people to get the vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noah likened this to Uber telling its customers to possibly order a Lyft if their driver does not show up. Though Noah understood that the CDC was just trying to cover its bases, he ultimately felt the messaging could discourage people from getting the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know the CDC is just trying to cover all the bases because maybe there\u2019s a tiny chance you could get corona even if you\u2019re vaccinated,\u201d he said. \u201cBut if that messaging ends up convincing people that there\u2019s not much of a reason to get vaccinated at all, then we\u2019re shooting ourselves in the foot.
