For better or for worse, what Americans choose to eat is heavily influenced by the availability of certain foods in their community, how much they cost, and whether healthy plant-based options are offered in our schools and institutions.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThese are all factors that are affected, directly or indirectly, by local, state, and federal policy,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo there is a strong case to be made that when our tax dollars are being used to fund meals at public institutions, for example, people should be given the option of choosing healthy, climate-friendly, plant-based meals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kim lauded President Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/04\/22\/fact-sheet-president-biden-sets-2030-greenhouse-gas-pollution-reduction-target-aimed-at-creating-good-paying-union-jobs-and-securing-u-s-leadership-on-clean-energy-technologie\">plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions<\/a> by half by 2030, asserting, \u201cThe plan also alludes to many opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the agriculture sector, including helping farmers to reduce soil erosion and store carbon in soils \u2013 ideas that are good for farmers, and good for the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After various figures recently accused Biden of wanting to radically cut Americans\u2019 meat diet, AFP published a <a href=\"https:\/\/factcheck.afp.com\/bidens-climate-plan-does-not-target-us-meat-consumption\">fact check<\/a> debunking that claim, writing, \u201cBiden\u2019s climate plan does not call for putting America on a meat diet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska GOP Governor Pete Ricketts still does want to know what Biden\u2019s plans are for the the beef production industry. He told The Daily Mail, \u201cGreen New Deal climate activists have put meat production and consumption in the crosshairs. So far President Joe Biden has failed to make clear statements about what his plans mean for agriculture and meat production.\u00a0It\u2019s time for President Biden to decide whose side he\u2019s on: Radical climate activists or America\u2019s farmers and ranchers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, teen environmental activist Greta Thunberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/most-of-us-are-hypocrites-on-climate-change-maybe-thats-progress\/2019\/08\/25\/21e49b4e-c5cd-11e9-b5e4-54aa56d5b7ce_story.html\">stated<\/a> that she told her parents to become vegans, wailing, \u201cI just kept telling them that they were stealing our future and that you cannot stand up for human rights while you are living that lifestyle. And then they decided to do those changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0United Nations Environment Programme <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/news-and-stories\/story\/tackling-worlds-most-urgent-problem-meat\">stated in 2018<\/a>, \u201cOur use of animals as a food-production technology has brought us to the verge of catastrophe. The greenhouse gas footprint of animal agriculture rivals that of every car, truck, bus, ship, airplane, and rocket ship combined\u2026 There is no pathway to achieve the Paris climate objectives without a massive decrease in the scale of animal agriculture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At a <a href=\"http:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/TRANSCRIPTS\/1909\/04\/se.03.html\">climate change town hall<\/a> in September 2019, after someone claimed, \u201cClimate change has been linked to \u2014 to agriculture and the over consumption of red meat and also the over production of crops,\u201d they asked then-California Senator Kamala Harris, \u201cIf elected, are you \u2014 will you be supporting change in dietary guidelines and then how will you plan on implementing the changes so that people effectively change the diets?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harris answered, \u201cThe balance that we have to strike here, frankly, is about what government can and should do around creating incentives and then banning certain behaviors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That led to this exchange between Harris and CNN\u2019s Erin Burnett:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p><em>BURNETT: But would you support changing the dietary guidelines?\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>HARRIS: Yes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>BURNETT: You know, the food pyramid.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>HARRIS: Yes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>BURNETT: To reduce red meat specifically?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>HARRIS: Yes, I would.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
