Her practice runs counter to the Centers for Diseases Control\u2019s (CDC) new outdoor guidelines for fully-vaccinated Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Gupta, I am among the full-vaccinated, joined Team Pfizer, and I did go jogging today in the park. And I did \u2013 this was the mask I wore \u2013 \u201d Reid explained, holding up a cloth mask. \u201cwith a doctor\u2019s mask underneath it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of the people I saw in the park \u2013 the park was packed \u2013 I\u2019d say like 95% of the people still had masks on,\u201d she said. \u201cThere are people who are getting really upset about that. I won\u2019t name them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShould people be freaking out that some people, like myself, who are vaccinated, are still wearing masks outdoors? Should we do that?\u201d the MSNBC host asked.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/fully-vaccinated-joy-reid-says-shes-still-wearing-two-masks-to-go-jogging-doc-suggests-thats-unnecessary\/\">Mediaite<\/a>, NBC medical analyst Dr. Vin Gupta said Reid was not the only person who continues to wear masks outdoors even though they have received the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefinitely not,\u201d Gupta replied. \u201cI think you\u2019re going to see residual masking based on personal preference for months, if not years, after this pandemic is over. Nobody should judge anyone else\u2019s personal health decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The MSNBC host wanted to know if those who are fully vaccinated against COVID should continue wearing masks outdoors. Dr. Gupta cited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-cdc-issues-new-mask-guidelines-for-fully-vaccinated\">newly released\u00a0CDC guidelines<\/a> that state Americans no longer need to wear masks while outdoors as long as they are fully vaccinated. The one exception is if the person is in a crowded area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CDC was well-timed to put this out there, because there is no data \u2014 frankly, there has not been data for many months now \u2014 that outdoor transmission is a thing,\u201d he explained. \u201cThere\u2019s no way you\u2019re going to really get exposed unless maybe you\u2019re in a rave or an outdoor concert where you\u2019re really close to people who are not masking.
