Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/fb_image-1253.jpeg?w=1200&#038;h=800&#038;ixlib=react-9.0.3\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"  style=\"display:none\"><\/div>\n<p>The Montana legislature on Tuesday passed a bill prohibiting employers from requiring their employees to receive a coronavirus vaccine as a condition of employment.<\/p>\n<p>The bill bars employers from denying\u00a0employment opportunities,\u00a0educational opportunities, privileges, licensing, goods, or services based on vaccination status or whether someone has an immunity passport.\u00a0Employers are still permitted to strongly recommend that workers get vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>The bill was amended so it would not affect vaccine requirements at public schools, but individuals\u00a0can seek religious or medical exemptions to those vaccination requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The bill now gets sent to Republican Governor Greg Gianforte for his signature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUp to now Montana employers have respected the fundamental, personal, medical and religious freedoms of Montanans,\u201d GOP state senator Tom McGillvray, who presented the bill,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc10.com\/article\/news\/health\/coronavirus\/vaccine\/bill-prohibit-work-discrimination-based-vaccine-passport\/507-e3f2bb38-9077-4fd7-9018-c0362be40011\">said<\/a> last week, according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, that\u2019s not the case anymore,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are employers \u2026 that are requiring and coercing employees to get vaccinations under threat of termination and intimidation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some health care organizations voiced their opposition to the bill, the\u00a0Montana Hospital Association expressing concerns that \u201cwill prevent healthcare facilities from screening potential employees in the hiring process without violating the newly created discrimination provisions in the bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law \u201cunravels more than 50 years of medical science and expert guidance in protecting patients and health care workers from infectious diseases,\u201d Rich Rasmussen, president and CEO of the Montana Hospital Association, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/montana\/articles\/2021-04-27\/bill-to-prohibit-work-discrimination-based-on-vaccine-status\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Republican state representative Jennifer Carlson, the bill\u2019s sponsor, said the bill \u201cdoes not in any way prevent any employer from taking reasonable safety precautions, just as any hospital currently does, with an employee who does not have a flu shot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Montana\u2019s move comes just after Gianforte\u00a0issued an executive order earlier this month banning the use of vaccine passports or documentation of someone\u2019s coronavirus vaccination status in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI strongly encourage Montanans to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Receiving one is entirely voluntary and won\u2019t be mandated by the state,\u201d the governor <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovGianforte\/status\/1382077033572925448\">wrote<\/a> in an April 13\u00a0tweet. \u201cThat\u2019s why today I issued an executive order prohibiting \u201cvaccine passports,\u201d and I\u2019ll continue protecting individual liberty and personal privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several other states have recently banned vaccine passports. Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah have all taken action against mandatory vaccine passports in some form, arguing that it violates the privacy and civil rights of residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society,\u201d Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said early this month in announcing his executive order\u00a0banning the use of vaccine passports in his state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I have said all along, these vaccines are always voluntary and never forced,\u201d Texas Governor Greg Abbott said days later in a video message announcing his similar executive order prohibiting government-mandated vaccine passports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernment should not require any Texan to show proof of vaccination and reveal private health information just to go about their daily lives,\u201d Abbott said.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
