An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/andrew-brown-jr-shot-five-times-once-back-head-according-n1265460\"><span class=\"s1\">autopsy<\/span><\/a> was also conducted that the family commissioned. The forensic pathologist, Dr. Brent Hall, reportedly found that Brown was shot four times in the right arm and one time in the back of the head.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/andrew-brown-jr-shot-five-times-once-back-head-according-n1265460\"><span class=\"s1\">NBC News<\/span><\/a>, \u201cThe shot to the head was fired from \u2018intermediate\u2019 range and penetrated Brown\u2019s skull and brain, according to Hall, who is based in Boone, North Carolina. The bullet wound had a trajectory of \u2018bottom to top, left to right and back to front,\u2019 Hall\u2019s report said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe FBI Charlotte Field Office has opened a federal civil rights investigation into the police-involved shooting death of Andrew Brown Jr.,\u201d an FBI spokesman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/04\/27\/andrew-brown-jr-fbi-opens-civil-rights-probe-into-police-shooting.html\"><span class=\"s1\">said<\/span><\/a>. \u201cAgents will work closely with the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina and the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice to determine whether federal laws were violated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Attorneys for Brown\u2019s family spoke out about the clip of body camera footage they were able to view earlier this week. Wayne Kendall, one of the lawyers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/andrew-brown-jr-shot-five-times-once-back-head-according-n1265460\"><span class=\"s1\">said<\/span><\/a>, \u201cThis, in fact, was a fatal wound to the back of Mr. Brown\u2019s head as he was leaving the site trying to evade being shot at by these particular law enforcement officers that we believe did nothing but a straight-up execution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The family\u2019s lawyers also put out a copy of Brown\u2019s death certificate, which states the cause of death was a \u201cpenetrating gunshot wound of the head.\u201d A paramedic services instructor who serves as a local medical examiner and lists the death as a homicide signed the document, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/shootings-north-carolina-race-and-ethnicity-elizabeth-city-laws-bfa6b5f803a7041be6fdd4efe4cc762a\"><span class=\"s1\">Associated Press reported.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Wooten said that he wants answers, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe private autopsy released by the family is important and I continue to pray for them during this difficult time,\u201d Wooten said Tuesday afternoon. \u201cHowever, a private autopsy is just one piece of the puzzle. The independent investigation being performed by the [State Bureau of Investigation] is crucial and the interviews, forensics, and other evidence they gather will help ensure that justice is accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ben Crump, one of the family\u2019s attorneys who notably represented the Floyd family in the recent George Floyd case, tweeted a video containing footage of law enforcement authorities driving to Brown\u2019s house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust-released footage of the militarized police force rushing to kill Andrew Brown,\u201d Crump tweeted. \u201cThis has become a constant sight across America, the evolution of policing that\u2019s now terrorizing communities of color!\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.122866894198\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just-released footage of the militarized police force rushing to kill Andrew Brown. (\ud83c\udfa5\/<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WAVY_News?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WAVY_News<\/a>) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/bLwowoAgso\">pic.twitter.com\/bLwowoAgso<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ben Crump (@AttorneyCrump) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AttorneyCrump\/status\/1387122600816558086?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The county launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pasquotankcountync.org\/checkthefacts\">\u201cCheck the Facts\u201d website<\/a> in order to push back on many of the allegedly false claims surrounding the shooting that have circulated on the internet.<\/p>\n<p>The website states that one of the false internet rumors is \u201cBecause Mr. Brown was non-violent, there was no need for a SWAT team to be on site to arrest him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It goes on to explain:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p><em>The deputies who were serving the lawful search warrant and the lawful arrest warrant knew Mr. Brown was a convicted felon knew that he has been arrested previously on multiple occasions for resisting arrest. News reports indicate Mr. Brown had a criminal \u201crap sheet\u201d more than 180 pages long, dating to 1988.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">William Barr, the former attorney general during the Trump administration, launched a civil rights investigation last year into the death of George Floyd who died while in police custody, as seen in a viral video filmed by a witness. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-jury-finds-derek-chauvin-guilty\">Last week,<\/a> former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in relation to the death of George Floyd. Merrick Garland, the current attorney general, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/statement-attorney-general-merrick-b-garland-verdict-chauvin-trial\"><span class=\"s1\">said<\/span><\/a> last week that the federal civil rights investigation into the death of Floyd is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mayor-declares-state-of-emergency-ahead-of-bodycam-footage-release-of-fatal-shooting\">As The Daily Wire<\/a><\/span> reported, Mayor Bettie Parker of Elizabeth City, North Carolina,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ewscripps.brightspotcdn.com\/23\/aa\/c746b8d844bf8ae04706e9247a84\/soe-42621-corrected.pdf\"><span class=\"s1\">declared<\/span><\/a> a state of emergency Monday before body camera footage was released of the Brown shooting that sparked protests in the city over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIn order to ensure the safety of our citizens and their property, City officials realize there may potentially be a period of civil unrest within the City following the public release of that [body camera] footage,\u201d Parker wrote in the declaration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Parker directed \u201call departments and agencies of Elizabeth City to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide such emergency assistance deemed necessary to preserve public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
