As the National Institute of Health (NIH) website <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/guide\/notice-files\/NOT-OD-21-111.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">explains<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"19\">\n<p><em>On June 5, 2019, HHS announced that NIH intramural research that requires new acquisition of human fetal tissue from elective abortions will not be conducted. Simultaneously, HHS announced new requirements for documentation and review by an Ethics Advisory Board of extramural research applications for NIH grants, cooperative agreements, and R&#038;D contracts proposing the use of human fetal tissue obtained from elective abortions.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>[\u2026]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This notice informs the extramural research community that HHS is reversing its 2019 decision that all research applications for NIH grants and contracts proposing the use of human fetal tissue from elective abortions will be reviewed by an Ethics Advisory Board. Accordingly, HHS\/NIH will not convene another NIH Human Fetal Tissue Research Ethics Advisory Board.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann of Kansas City, who is chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops\u2019 Committee on Pro-Life Activities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicherald.com\/News\/National___International\/National\/Research_with_fetal_tissue_from_elective_abortion_called__deeply_offensive_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> on April 20 that \u201cthe bodies of children killed by abortion deserve the same respect as that of any other person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur government has no right to treat innocent abortion victims as a commodity that can be scavenged for body parts to be used in research,\u201d continued Naumann, who has before\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/archbishop-on-bidens-catholicism-the-president-doesnt-believe-what-we-believe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>\u00a0that Biden, who claims to be a devout Roman Catholic, should be denied the sacrament of communion in the Catholic Church for his abortion views.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unethical to promote and subsidize research that can lead to legitimizing the violence of abortion,\u201d Naumann added. \u201cResearchers have demonstrated that we can do effective scientific research and develop efficacious clinical treatments without harvesting tissue from aborted babies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden is at odds with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s2c2a5.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Catechism of the Catholic Church<\/a>, which condemns public support for abortion as a \u201cgrave offense\u201d worthy of excommunication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion,\u201d the catechism reads. \u201cThis teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.
