That formula certainly hasn\u2019t worked very well for The Academy!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/oscars-ratings-crumble-nearly-60-to-record-low-as-stars-bash-law-enforcement\">reported<\/a> on Monday, the Oscars suffered a whopping 58% decline in viewership with less than 10 million people tuning in to watch the broadcast:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"21.774647887324\">\n<p><em>The Oscars award show on Sunday night set a record for how few people tuned in to watch the Hollywood spectacle.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The number of total viewers dropped roughly 58% year-over-year from the then-record low in 2020, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/oscars-ratings-2021-academy-awards-viewership-record-low\/\">The Wrap<\/a>. The number of total viewers plummeted from 23.6 million total viewers in 2020 to just 9.85 million total viewers on Sunday night.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The drop was even worse among the prized demographic of adults ages 18-49.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThose initial numbers for the 2021 awards show, which was taped at Union Station in Los Angeles and aired live on ABC from 8-11:17 p.m. ET, represent a decline of 64% in the key demo and 58% in overall viewers compared to 2020\u2019s results, but a more accurate comparison can be made when finalized data comes in Tuesday,\u201d the Wrap reported.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Prior to the show, producers for the Oscars admitted that politics undoubtedly pushes people to tune out. None of that stopped people from airing their political opinions on stage, most of which focused on police brutality and racial equality. The night, however, had its share of classy, inspiring moments, such as when movie mogul Tyler Perry rebuked the far-left claims that \u201call cops are bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this time, with all of the internet and social media and algorithms and everything that wants us to think a certain way, the 24-hour new cycle \u2026 it is my hope that all of us would teach our kids, and I want to remember: just refuse hate. Don\u2019t hate anybody,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tyler-perrys-oscar-speech-goes-viral-i-refuse-to-hate-someone-because-they-are-a-police-officer\">Tyler Perry said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI refuse to hate someone because they are Mexican or because they are black or white or LBGTQ,\u201d he added. \u201cI refuse to hate someone because they are a police officer. I refuse to hate someone because they are Asian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, musician Jon Batiste openly praised God for giving humanity the art of music and the universal language of 12 notes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know what\u2019s deep is God gave us 12 notes, it\u2019s the same 12 notes that Duke Ellington had, that Bach had, Nina Simone,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to point out that every gift is special. Every contribution with music that comes from the divine into the instruments into the film, into the minds, hearts, and souls of every person who hears it, the stories that happen when you listen to it and watch it and the stories you share, the moments you make, the memories you create, man, it\u2019s just so incredibly special. It\u2019s just so incredibly special\u2026 we\u2019re incredibly humbled and thankful.
