We know that this decision does not erase the pain, anger, and frustration many of you are feeling. The intersection of race and law enforcement has had a long, fraught history. One that cannot be solved by a single verdict. True justice won\u2019t arrive until systemic racism is dismantled and we are able to repair the centuries of harm inflicted on communities of color.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>In a later paragraph, Levya wrote that \u201c<\/span><span>Since George Floyd\u2019s death on May 25th of last year, the Black community has dealt with the added trauma of more killings by police \u2013 more than 180 in the U.S. alone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This data point appears to include all black people who were killed by law enforcement, regardless of whether the officer was justified in their use of force. According to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/graphics\/investigations\/police-shootings-database\/?nid&#038;request-id=cac112b2-2813-46c7-8c1f-b0e7dc2139e7&#038;pml=1&#038;pml=1\"><span>The Washington Post\u2019s police shootings database<\/span><\/a><span>, in 2020 243 black people were killed by law enforcement, 164 had a gun at the time of their death, and 18 were unarmed. So far in 2021, 60 black people have been killed, 47 of whom were armed, and only four of whom were unarmed. That\u2019s 22 unarmed black people over the past year and a half.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Levya says he is \u201call in\u201d on diversity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace. In an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitalonecareers.com\/pride-in-practice-why-im-all-in-on-diversity-inclusion-belonging-cul-divi-tlead\"><span>article<\/span><\/a><span> for the company\u2019s career page, Levya details the importance of diversity in his personal story as a gay, Latino man.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWhat I find most rewarding about my role \u2026 is the opportunity to bring people from across the full spectrum of diversity together in an inclusive workplace where everyone feels safe to live their truth, bring their best, most authentic selves to work, and achieve their full potential,\u201d Levya wrote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A Capital One employee, who spoke to The Daily Wire on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said that the push for workplace inclusivity ironically excludes those who do not believe in left-wing political dogma. The employee described his workplace as \u201cno humor, no fun, and a constant tension not wanting to get fired.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Capital One did not respond to requests for comment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Capital One is among the many corporations that have adopted \u201canti-racism\u201d messaging following the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement.
