She also said that the FDA concurrence could arrive in the coming weeks and stressed that the results of the move are not immediate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Psaki said that the administration expects 10 million doses to be available \u201cif or when the FDA gives its concurrence.\u201d There are also another 50 million doses in various stages of development that could be available in May or June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">AstraZeneca declined to comment to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-to-share-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine-doses-with-world-11619457366\"><span class=\"s1\">The Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a> on whether it was asked about the decision. \u201cThe doses are part of AstraZeneca\u2019s supply commitments to the U.S. government,\u201d a spokeswoman for AstraZeneca said in an email to the outlet. \u201cDecisions to send U.S. supply to other countries are made by the U.S. government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last month, the White House said it was looking into how it could \u201cloan doses\u201d to other countries <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/u-s-plans-to-send-astrazeneca-vaccines-to-mexico-canada\"><span class=\"s1\">amid reports<\/span><\/a> that the U.S. was planning to send four million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines to Mexico and Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The company has had a series of distribution problems in Europe. On Monday, the European Union announced that it was suing AstraZeneca for failing to uphold its contract to deliver a certain number of vaccines.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/eu-sues-astrazeneca-over-covid-19-shortfall-11619442321?mod=article_inline\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a><\/span> reported, \u201cOf 120 million doses agreed on for delivery in the first quarter, the EU received about 30 million. \u2026For the current quarter, the two sides had contracted for 180 million doses. Almost a month in, deliveries are in the single-digit millions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The FDA has not made an authorization decision for the AstraZeneca vaccine. It has granted emergency use authorization to three vaccines including Pfizer\/BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson &#038; Johnson. The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently called for the Johnson &#038; Johnson vaccine\u2019s administration to be paused as officials examined a potential link to a type of rare blood clot. Last week, however, the FDA and the CDC recommended that the pause on the Johnson &#038; Johnson vaccine be lifted and distribution resume.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/eu-committee-finds-astrazeneca-vaccine-safe-after-shots-paused-in-several-countries\">The Daily Wire<\/a><\/span> reported that the AstraZeneca shots faced a similarly challenging start in Europe, as the administration of the vaccine was \u201chalted in more than a dozen mostly European countries following scattered reports that a small number of people who had received it later experienced blood clots,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/eu-regulator-review-astrazeneca-shot-blood-clot-links-437190969ed016e40bdfcbb4b63fc7a9\"><span class=\"s1\">according<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to The Associated Press.\u201d In March, European Union regulators announced that the vaccine was safe and not connected to an overall increase in the risk of blood clots.<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
