He simultaneously knocked the term \u201cpeople of color\u201d as something designed to excluded Latin people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so happy for my black fam, and Asian bros and sistas and women, but I cant help mourn our absence,\u201d he tweeted. \u201cWe\u2019ve been here for 500 yrs and before, we are the largest ethnic group 68M. can u imagine the amount of unanswered dreams and wasted talent? I can!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd the term POC even though it is so inclusive it has become a weapon to exclude us and erase us better and more effectively! When that beautiful woman from \u2018Roma\u2019\u00a0[Yalitza Aparicio] was put on the cover of Latin\u00a0<em>Vogue<\/em>, people wrote horrible letters. \u2018How dare you put such an ugly face on magazines?\u2019 That\u2019s the insidious self-hate. Because like the majority of us are mixed race \u2014 Black and Indian and white. And the majority in our countries who run everything are white European. This doesn\u2019t really go away that easily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leguizamo specifically referred to Texas, where President Trump was able to shore up votes in southern border towns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas is a trippy place. El Paso, Austin, San Antonio \u2014 very liberal, very Democratic. But you\u2019re going to have your people who grew up there under hundreds of years of serious oppression: Jim Crow laws against Mexicans; \u2018No dogs or Mexicans allowed\u2019 signs; lynchings of Latin people,\u201d he said. \u201cSix thousand Latin people from the 1800s to early 1900s were lynched, shot and burned alive. So there is this continued fear of being other. You can\u2019t discount that, because when I go to Texas and Arizona, a lot of Latin people say to me, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m not Mexican. I\u2019m not Latin.
