Andrew Cuomo all but disappeared after a slew of women came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>He reappeared on Monday, holding his first formal press conference since the end of November. And the governor used his bully pulpit to lash out at his accusers, saying they just \u201cwant attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wen asked about the growing number of women accusing him of sexual misconduct, Cuomo said \u201cNo, no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs for why he thought dozens of people have attested to his alleged disturbing behavior, Cuomo replied, \u2018People are venial. People want attention. People are angry. People are jealous,&#8217;\u201d The New York Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo was asked if he regrets inviting at least one female staffer to the Executive Mansion, Cuomo replied, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have many women who were working state government. I\u2019m very proud that we probably have more women in senior positions than ever before,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I think that\u2019s a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo said he was not worried about state attorney general\u2019s office investigation into the sex-harassment allegations\u00a0against him.\u00a0\u201cThe report can\u2019t say anything different because I didn\u2019t do anything wrong,\u201d the governor said.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo was also asked about a recent New York Times magazine cover story that alleged Cuomo referred to Jews as \u201cthese people and their f***ing treehouses\u201d during a Sukkot event \u2014 a visibly angry Cuomo said\u00a0 \u201cI never said any such things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey printed slurs and slander, and you\u2019d have to ask them why they did that,\u201d Cuomo said.<\/p>\n<p>A total of seven women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against the governor.<\/p>\n<p>Karen Hinton, who worked for Cuomo as a press aide,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/cuomo-toxic-workplace\/2021\/03\/06\/7f7c5b9c-7dd3-11eb-b3d1-9e5aa3d5220c_story.html\">told<\/a>\u00a0The Washington Post that the governor called her to his \u201cdimly lit\u201d hotel room and hugged her twice following a work function in 2000. She said she pulled away from Cuomo, but he pulled her back toward his body and held onto her.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ana Liss, who worked for Cuomo as a policy and operations aide from 2013 to 2015,\u00a0 said the governor once asked her if she had a boyfriend, then touched her lower back and kissed her hand. Liss said at first she thought his actions were harmless flirtations, but she said she came to believe that they \u201cdiminished her from an educated professional to \u2018just a skirt,\u2019\u201d Fox News reported.<\/p>\n<p>Other accusers say Cuomo sexually harassed. Anna Ruch, a former Biden 2020 campaign worker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/03\/01\/nyregion\/cuomo-harassment-anna-ruch.html\">told<\/a>\u00a0The New York Times that the governor made unwanted sexual advances toward her after they met at a wedding in New York City in 2019. She also accused Cuomo, 63, of kissing her without her permission, even as she tried to pull away. Ruch said the encounter left her \u201cconfused and shocked and embarrassed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another accuser, Charlotte Bennett, a former Cuomo aide, alleges that the governor inquired about her sex life and asked her if she would be amenable to having a relationship with an older man.
