In a video statement Saturday, Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten said he wanted the video released, only if it did not undermine the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pasqutoank County Sheriff statement April 24, 2021\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/05F_RJhE4tc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>This came after police fatally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/04\/25\/us\/andrew-brown-jr-north-carolina-police-shooting-sunday\/index.html\">shot Andrew Brown Jr.<\/a> Wednesday while attempting to <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ap.org\/detail\/NorthCarolinaDeputyShooting\/3155eb2e483942e0bb6fbe66beaf3086\">serve a warrant<\/a> for his arrest on felony drug charges. (Photo by Sean Rayford\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBecause we want transparency, we want the body camera footage made public,\u201d Sheriff Wooten stated. \u201cSome people have falsely claimed that my office has the power to do so. That is not true. Only a judge can release the video.
