KLKN-TV <a class href=\"https:\/\/www.klkntv.com\/viral-event-josh-fight-chooses-lincoln-as-its-battleground\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a> that the Arizona student won that competition, allowing him to claim the title of the true Josh Swain,\u201d the AP reported.<\/p>\n<p>Then a full battle broke out for anyone with the first name of Josh. I didn\u2019t expect the whole internet to take it and start contacting every \u2018Josh\u2019 they knew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before the gathering, Swain put a post on Instagram. \u201cMy name is Josh Swain (actually),\u201d he wrote. \u201cAlmost one year ago, under a spell of pandemic boredom, I made a groupchat of all the people on Facebook that I could find with the same first and last name as mine, and challenged them to fight for the right to keep this common name. This was a complete joke, and I have posted jokes to my twitter before, but when I posted the screenshots to my twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/joshswainaz\/status\/1253728855459639297?s=20\">here<\/a>, the internet ran with it, and ran with enough endurance for you all to remember a YEAR later. That doesn\u2019t happen very often, so I\u2019m afraid I have to oblige the internet and trek all the way across the contiguous United States to defend my name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swain then laid out the details of the gathering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also just set up a fund for the Children\u2019s Hospital and Medical Center\u2026 which provides medical care to children across Nebraska,\u201d said Swain. \u201cThe title is \u2018Legal Fees for Josh\u2019s to Change their Names\u2019 but it actually just goes to the children\u2019s hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople donated about 200 to 300 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Lincoln and raised more than $8,000 for the Children\u2019s Hospital and Medical Center Foundation in Omaha. \u201cLittle Josh\u201d suffered from seizures when he was about 2 years old and received treatment at Children\u2019s Hospital, so his victory seemed meant to be, his dad said,\u201d The Lincoln Journal Star <a href=\"https:\/\/journalstar.com\/news\/local\/little-josh-dubbed-winner-of-the-battle-of-the-joshes-community-also-benefits-from-event\/article_5b0db3e8-e96b-5025-9dd5-222aae3b99c5.html\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
