The reason I think the Biden administration said that they didn\u2019t want to implement, or the reason they got rid of the MPPs, is because they were worried about the safety of those individuals,\u201d the congressman explained on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/bidens-catch-and-release-migrants-without-court-dates-total-more-than-15300-texas-democrat-says\">Fox News<\/a>. \u201cBut, you know, you can use the U.N. in so many ways. The U.N. can be used to provide safety for the individuals. We use that all over the country so that the MPP can be repurposed in a safe way if there were concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead of doing away with the Trump administration\u2019s agreement with the Northern Triangle countries \u2013 Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras \u2013 the Biden administration established their own with Guatemala and Mexico. Cuellar believes the Biden administration could have \u201crepurposed\u201d what was already established and implemented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The Biden administration] could have just repurposed that agreement from the very beginning, cut off the flow of people coming in because I worry about all those folks coming in through the hands of the coyotes, through criminals, which is a very criminal, a very, very dangerous being in the hands of those criminals,\u201d Cuellar explained.<\/p>\n<p>The number of illegal aliens flocking to the United States has Border Patrol overwhelmed. The agency is expediting releases due to the sheer volume of crossing and apprehensions, as well as concerns over the spread of COVID. Current \u201coperational policy,\u201d according to Border Report, allows agents the discretion to \u201csometimes deviate from normal processes depending upon the circumstances,\u201d meaning an illegal alien can be handed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/doclib\/dro\/detention-standards\/pdf\/admiss.pdf\">I-385 Alien Booking Record<\/a> card and released.<\/p>\n<p>When the individuals are released into the interior of the U.S., they are provided with Notice to Appear (NTA) documents. The illegal alien is required to appear at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office nearest to them within 60 days. At that point, they are to receive \u201cfurther instructions.\u201d NTA documents also indicate the illegal alien has to appear at an ICE office within 90 days so they can see an immigration judge. The problem, according to Cuellar, is \u201cmany won\u2019t understand that and will get lost in the system.\u201d Some may not have a chance at asylum because they did not appear before an immigration judge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re not put into the immigration system where they\u2019re supposed to go before a judge,\u201d Cuellar said. \u201cIt will be interesting to see how many of those (issued) 385s are going to show up,\u201d the congressman told Border Report.<\/p>\n<p>The number of illegal aliens crossing the border continues to skyrocket month after month, with a record number of unaccompanied minors making the trek to the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-bidens-border-crisis-explodes-number-of-unaccompanied-children-in-custody-300-higher-than-previously-known\">Last month<\/a>, more than 13,000 unaccompanied minors were being held in Border Patrol facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Russell Hott, a senior ICE official, in March <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/border-official-warns-of-flood-of-unaccompanied-minors-families-coming-to-us-most-in-over-20-years\">warned<\/a> about a 20-year high in the number of unaccompanied minors and families that are crossing the border.<\/p>\n<p>According to Congressman Cuellar, the surge of illegal immigrants needs to be addressed with \u201ccommon-sense solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.647564469914\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If CBP expects more apprehensions this year than at any point in the past 2 decades, we need to create common-sense solutions that will address the current surge of migration.<\/p>\n<p>I introduced legislation w\/ <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnCornyn?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JohnCornyn<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorSinema?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenatorSinema<\/a>, &#038; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepTonyGonzales?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RepTonyGonzales<\/a> that will do just that. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hfr6OJTKgZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/hfr6OJTKgZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep.
