Gavin Newsom (D) in the pending California recall election.<\/p>\n<p>During an episode of his HBO show \u201cReal Time\u201d on Friday night, Maher seemed dismayed over the fact Jenner would be running as a Republican given the GOP\u2019s stance against transgender ideology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">\u201cHow about this for news: Caitlyn Jenner is running for governor. I know you think of her as a reality-show star, but come on, people change,\u201d Maher said, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/bill-mahers-transphobic-mockery-of-caitlyn-jenner?ref=scroll\">The Daily Beast<\/a>, which denounced Maher\u2019s quip as \u201ctransphobic.\u201d \u201cShe is trans, rested, and ready. She\u2019s got a great slogan: take the \u2018sack\u2019 out of \u2018Sacramento.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As to Jenner\u2019s Republican bona fides, Maher likened it to Jenner\u2019s role in the Kardashian family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love that about her. Wasn\u2019t always sure about the man-woman thing, but low capital-gains taxes, born that way!\u201d Maher joked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd a lot of people, of course, are saying, \u2018Isn\u2019t it strange for a trans woman to be in a party that is passing anti-trans laws all over the country?&#8217;\u201d Maher added. \u201cAnd Caitlyn said, \u2018Yeah, I get that. It\u2019s just something about being in a party that doesn\u2019t respect me that makes me feel like I\u2019m home with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/entertainment\/kardashians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kardashians<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the announcement for governor, Jenner knocked the Democratic Party\u2019s stranglehold on the once Golden State of California.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalifornia has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality,\u201d Jenner said. \u201cBut for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jenner likewise ripped Gavin Newsom for high taxes and his crippling lockdown of the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking on entrenched Sacramento politicians and the special interests that fund them requires a fighter who isn\u2019t afraid to do what is right. I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom\u2019s disastrous time as governor,\u201d said Jenner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmall businesses have been devastated because of the over-restrictive lockdown. An entire generation of children have lost a year of education and have been prevented from going back to school, participating in activities, or socializing with their friends,\u201d Jenner added.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Jenner\u2019s transgenderism, LGBTQ activists have not embraced Jenner\u2019s candidacy.\u00a0Trans activist Charlotte Clymer, for instance, denounced Jenner as an \u201cunqualified hack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaitlyn Jenner is a deeply unqualified hack who doesn\u2019t care about anyone but herself,\u201d tweeted Clymer. \u201cHer views are terrible. She is a horrible candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaitlyn Jenner has no real support. I don\u2019t care about her candidacy. I do care about the ways in which her asinine views will be weaponized against trans people and the ways in which transphobia will go unchecked. This is purely a vanity campaign, and it\u2019s incredibly selfish,\u201d added Clymer. \u201cCaitlyn Jenner\u2019s only real political position is doing whatever it takes to boost Caitlyn Jenner, and she doesn\u2019t care who gets hurt along the way. I wish this didn\u2019t need to be said, but undoubtedly it does: whatever you may think of Caitlyn Jenner\u2013and I do NOT think kindly of her\u2013please remember there are numerous valid critiques of her without turning to transphobia. Please think before you post.
