That is more than the population of Alaska, Vermont, and Wyoming \u2014 <em>combined<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden administration anticipates that it will be releasing 400 migrant families into the country a day by mid-June as the influx of people encountered illegally crossing the border overwhelms its detention capacity,\u201d The Washington Examiner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/400-migrant-families-released-per-day\">reported<\/a>. \u201cThe 400 figure is eight times greater than the 50 families that Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement were releasing from its facilities each day early on in 2021. As of mid-March, Border Patrol agents were seeing 500 people arrive as part of a family group per day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Illegal border crossings remained near 20-year highs for the month of April with roughly 175,000 illegal aliens <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/mexico-border-crossings-april\/2021\/04\/23\/31206e82-a459-11eb-8a6d-f1b55f463112_story.html\">projected<\/a> to be taken into U.S. Customs and Border Patrol custody.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News expanded on the report from The Washington Examiner, adding that the move by the Biden administration was an attempt to \u201ccope\u201d with Biden\u2019s border crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInternal DHS communications reviewed by Fox News show that the department is developing plans to make the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program more efficient, because increasing the number of migrants enrolled in the program is becoming a priority for the department,\u201d Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/border-surge-dhs-migrants-released-us\">reported<\/a>. \u201cThe ATD program, which started in 2004, involves varying degrees of supervision for people who are going through immigration proceedings and do not have legal status. According to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement website, ATD can include methods from check-ins at local ICE centers to GPS monitoring and home visits, depending on the immigrant and their background, criminal history and other factors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden finally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-finally-admits-that-the-border-crisis-that-has-erupted-under-his-presidency-is-a-crisis\">admitted<\/a> last week that his border crisis was, in fact, a \u201ccrisis,\u201d a remark that he made while briefly speaking with reporters after playing a round of golf. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki later came out and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/white-house-biden-calling-the-border-crisis-a-crisis-does-not-reflect-view-of-the-administration\">said<\/a> that Biden\u2019s remarks did not reflect the view of the administration and that he does not believe that the situation at the U.S. border is a \u201ccrisis,\u201d despite saying so.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-admin-cancels-fines-for-illegal-aliens-who-fail-to-leave-u-s-doesnt-serve-our-best-interest\">announced<\/a> on Friday that it was canceling fines for illegal aliens who failed to leave the U.S., claiming that the move to enforce immigration laws ran \u201ccounter to the agency\u2019s best interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no indication that these penalties promoted compliance with noncitizens\u2019 departure obligations,\u201d Mayorkas said. \u201cWe can enforce our immigration laws without resorting to ineffective and unnecessary punitive measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf responded to the news by writing: \u201cJust when you think the Biden administration\u2019s immigration policies and agenda can\u2019t get worse \u2026 it does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow does withdrawing a consequence (i.e. fine) and holding individuals accountable when they overstay their visa and fail to depart in the best interests of DHS?\u201d Wolf added.<\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
