The Chicago Sun-Times <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/2021\/4\/19\/22392580\/leaders-proud-boys-ordered-jailed-capitol-riot-charges\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"17\">\n<p id=\"XCevsZ\"><em>Joseph Biggs and Ethan Nordean had been free since their March 10 indictment, but U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly concluded that the two men are dangerous and no conditions for their release could be adequate. The judge said Biggs and Nordean \u201cfacilitated political violence\u201d even if they weren\u2019t armed and didn\u2019t assault anybody at the Capitol on Jan. 6.<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"EalOdz\"><em>Kelly overruled another federal judge in Washington, D.C., who had ordered pretrial home confinement for Nordean. Biggs was freed after his initial Jan. 20 arrest in his home state of Florida. Justice Department prosecutors initially didn\u2019t seek to keep Biggs jailed but last month asked for his pretrial release to be revoked, saying new evidence shows he poses a \u201cgrave danger\u201d to the community.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kelly\u00a0determined that the \u201cnew evidence presented to prosecutors showed that the two men organized members of their group who participated in the Capitol attack,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/549879-judge-orders-proud-boys-leader-charged-in-capitol-breach-to-remain\">according<\/a> to The Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Biggs and Nordean were indicted last month with \u201cconspiring to impede Congress\u2019 certification of the Electoral College vote,\u201d the Chicago Sun-Times reported. \u201cOther charges in the indictment include obstruction of an official proceeding, obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder and disorderly conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell during a hearing in March admonished prosecutors for \u201cbacktracking on their claims that Nordean had instructed Proud Boys members to split up into smaller groups and directed a \u2018strategic plan\u2019 to breach the Capitol,\u201d the report noted. Judge Howell, however, concluded that Nordean was \u201cextensively involved\u201d in \u201cpre-planning\u201d the Jan 6. breach of the Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>The group the men are apart of,\u00a0Proud Boys, \u201cwere clearly prepared for a violent confrontation,\u201d the judge added.<\/p>\n<p>A Proud Boys leader from North Carolina who was charged in\u00a0connection with the Capitol riot, Charles Donohoe, was ordered by Judge Michael Harvey on Thursday to remain jailed until his trial for the safety of the community, POLITICO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/amp\/news\/2021\/04\/22\/proud-boys-leader-detained-484310\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Harvey determined Donohoe played a central role in the breach and celebrated afterward, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere, the danger posed by his release is that he will continue in the future, with his co-conspirators, both indicted and unindicted, to engage in acts of political violence or to aid and abet those who do,\u201d the judge said.<\/p>\n<p>Donohoe and other Proud Boys leaders \u201cspoke of political violence, of the spirit of 1776, of revolution, of war,\u201d Harvey reportedly said. \u201cThere\u2019s no evidence in the record that the defendant or co-conspirators saw Jan. 6 or even the transfer of power to the Biden administration \u2026 as the end of that struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"LHONpc\">Biggs and Nordean\u2019s attorneys unsuccessfully requested the suspension of Judge Kelly\u2019s Monday ruling pending a possible appeal.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
