Imagine where we\u2019d be if George had done the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The City of Fall River Police Department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FallRiverPD\/posts\/4342115752473354\"><span class=\"s1\">put out<\/span><\/a> an apology for the Facebook Post, writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"8\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>It is with regret that the Fall River Police Department\u2019s Facebook page was accessed by personnel who inadvertently re-posted an opinion that was meant for their own personal account.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The posting in no way represents the opinion of the Chief of Police or the Fall River Police Department.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>We will continue our commitment toward transparency and building relationships with our community.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">The post seemingly compared Chauvin\u2019s actions regarding his arrest with Floyd\u2019s actions when he was arrested last year, an event that resulted in his death. Following the globally-watched encounter, additional information was revealed about the interaction between Chauvin and Floyd, which was brought forward during the highly anticipated trial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On Tuesday, Chauvin was convicted on three counts in the case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-jury-finds-derek-chauvin-guilty\">The Daily Wire<\/a><\/span> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15.209302325581\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>On May 25, Chauvin and three other officers arrested and detained Floyd after he allegedly gave counterfeit money at a convenience store. Following a struggle to get Floyd into the back of a police cruiser, viral video shows that\u00a0Chauvin kneeled on Floyd\u2019s neck and back for nearly nine minutes to detain Floyd while awaiting paramedics.<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>Chauvin\u2019s attorney Eric Nelson argued during the trial that Floyd\u2019s drug use and bad heart were crucial factors in his death, and that Chauvin used reasonable force through an authorized prone hold. The Hennepin County\u00a0<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/medical-examiner-concluded-george-floyd-likely-died-of-fentanyl-overdose-court-docs-reveal\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>medical examiner<\/i><\/span><\/a><i>\u00a0revealed that Floyd\u2019s autopsy showed the deceased had\u00a0<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/george-floyds-girlfriend-floyd-hospitalized-for-overdose-months-earlier-drug-dealer-with-him-during-arrest\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>potentially lethal<\/i><\/span><\/a><i> levels of drugs in his system.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldnews.com\/story\/news\/2021\/04\/21\/fall-river-police-share-and-delete-post-criticizing-george-floyd\/7322782002\/\"><span class=\"s1\">The Herald News<\/span><\/a>, Police Chief Jeffrey Cardoza spoke about the Facebook post incident in a statement, saying, \u201cToday\u2019s posting in no way reflects the beliefs of this organization. I am personally disappointed these attitudes exist.\u201d Cardoza said the officer who shared the post was \u201cone of a few designated officers\u201d with posting ability on the department\u2019s Facebook page, and reportedly indicated that the officer may face repercussions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Mayor Paul Coogan called the episode regarding the police department\u2019s Facebook post \u201cunacceptable\u201d in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldnews.com\/story\/news\/2021\/04\/21\/fall-river-police-share-and-delete-post-criticizing-george-floyd\/7322782002\/\"><span class=\"s1\">statement<\/span><\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe post shared to the Fall River Police Department Facebook page was disappointing, frustrating and unacceptable. While the Fall River Police Department is full of great men and women who care deeply for our community, there is no place in the FRPD for an opinion like that shared today,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldnews.com\/story\/news\/2021\/04\/21\/fall-river-police-share-and-delete-post-criticizing-george-floyd\/7322782002\/\"><span class=\"s1\">statement<\/span><\/a> reads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe post, despite being intended for a personal page, contains beliefs completely incompatible with my hopes for the Fall River Police Department. Chief Jeff Cardoza has been diligently working to change the culture of the Fall River Police Department and I will personally be following up with the Chief to address lingering opinions like those shared today.
