The Federal Communications Commission is tasked with keeping obscene and indecent content off the airwaves. While there are some especially responsible<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>parents who raise their children with no TV in the house at all, as a practical matter, broadcast TV affects the moral norms of the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Regarding Cardi B\u2019s performance at the awards show, he said, \u201cI have received complaints in my office \u2014 and rightfully so \u2014 about Cardi B and the Grammys. They wonder why we are paying the FCC if they feel that this should be in living rooms across the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI realize that Kamala Harris has used her fame to promote this performer, but I assure the FCC that millions of Americans would view her performance as inconsistent with basic decency,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWake up, FCC, and begin to do your job. The moral decline of America is partly due to your utter complacency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Cardi B spoke out against the congressman on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iamcardib\/status\/1385260386224525315\"><span class=\"s1\">Twitter<\/span><\/a>, re-posting a clip of his speech and writing, \u201cThis gets me so mad ya don\u2019t even know! I think we all been on the edge this week since we seen police brutality back to back including watching one of the biggest case in history go down DUE to police brutality but wait ! The performance was overwhelmingly sexual, complete with stripper poles and the two women grinding on one another.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cardi-b-performs-wap-and-other-key-moments-from-the-grammys\">The Daily Wire<\/a><\/span> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"15\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>The song stirred significant controversy when it was first released, with an explicit music video accompanying lyrics such as \u201cWet-a** p**** make that pull-out game weak,\u201d \u201cBring a bucket and a mop for this wet-a** p****,\u201d and \u201cI want you to park that big Mack truck right in this little garage.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>Variety described the performance as \u201cjaw-dropping,\u201d celebrating the song\u2019s \u201cmessage of sexual empowerment.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">Many conservatives spoke out against the performance, especially commenting on the media\u2019s praise of the sexual nature of the show. The 2021 Grammy Awards show recorded a steep drop in viewership \u2014 with the broadcast only drawing 8.8 million total viewers across many platforms.
