Following a quarrel, she went back to the Philadelphia apartment the pair shared to collect her things and was never heard from again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t until 18 months later that investigators searched Einhorn\u2019s apartment after one of his neighbors complained that a reddish-brown, foul-smelling liquid was leaking from the ceiling directly below Einhorn\u2019s bedroom closet. Inside the closet, police found Maddux\u2019s beaten and\u00a0partially mummified body\u00a0stuffed into a trunk that had also been packed with Styrofoam, air fresheners, and newspapers,\u201d NBC said.<\/p>\n<p>After eluding the police for a brief time, Einhorn was captured and convicted of Maddux\u2019s murder. He\u2019s currently serving a life sentence.<\/p>\n<p>NBC notes that, despite Einhorn\u2019s claim of founding Earth Day, current Earth Day organizers credit former Wisconsin governor Gaylord Nelson with the achievement, and have largely scrubbed Einhorn from the holiday\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough Einhorn was only the master of ceremonies at the first Earth Day event, he maintains that Earth Day was his idea and that he\u2019s responsible for launching it,\u201d the outlet notes. \u201cUnderstandably, Earth Day\u2019s organizers have distanced themselves from his name, citing Gaylord Nelson, an environmental activist, and former Wisconsin governor and U.S. senator who died in 2005, as Earth Day\u2019s official founder and organizer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>True to Einhorn\u2019s legacy, though, environmentalism itself appears to have a significant body count \u2014 at least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlassociety.org\/post\/death-by-environmentalism\">according to the libertarian Atlas Society<\/a>. The Atlas Society blames environmentalists\u2019 efforts to stall the implementation of air conditioning in Europe, their crusade against larger vehicles that more effectively absorb the impact of collisions, the global ban on the use of DDT to combat malaria, and the environmentalist movement against food production, distribution, and consumption, for millions of deaths worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Environmentalists, of course, contend that global climate change is a major killer.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
