(Photo by Bonnie Cash-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 5:45 PM PT \u2013 Wednesday, April 21, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R) is planning to reintroduce his police reform bill in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Scott told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/police-reform-bill-tim-scott-reintroduce-2a2a07a7-d2a3-4bc0-a33d-db45f9d8b123.html?utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_campaign=editorial&#038;utm_content=politics-timscott\">reporters on Capitol Hill<\/a> that he\u2019s trying to work across the aisle to see if a bipartisan compromise can be reached. (Photo by Ting Shen-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Democrats and Republicans both introduced competing police reform bills in 2020, neither of which got very far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a way to put more of the onus or the burden on the department or on the employer than on the employee,\u201d Scott said to reporters.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized, enabling victims and their families to go after the departments, rather than a lone individual, \u201cis a way we can make progress towards a bill that actually has the kind of impact I think is helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scott said lawmakers are now focusing on a handful of issues, like ending qualified immunity and placing a federal ban on chokeholds and no-knock warrants.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/authorities-identify-suspect-in-pa-convenience-store-shooting-2-people-dead-including-gunman\/\">Authorities Identify Suspect In Pa.
