In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.cacd.775720\/gov.uscourts.cacd.775720.277.0_1.pdf\">110 page order<\/a> on Tuesday, Judge David Carter ordered the city of Los Angeles to provide housing to the general population of skid row by October 18.<\/p>\n<p>The judge also slammed officials for their inability to restrain the unprecedented growth of homelessness in L.A. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/homeless-housing\/story\/2021-04-20\/judge-carter-la-city-county-shelter-skid-row-homeless-fall\"> order<\/a> came just one day after Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti unveiled his plan to spend $1 billion to tackle the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNearly $1 billion of that is for delivering housing and services and support to people who are experiencing homelessness, untangling the equities that have existed in our city for too long,\u201d Garcetti said. \u201cAnd lifting up the communities most impacted by COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the mayor did raise doubt about the judge\u2019s timeline for total housing by calling it an unprecedented pace.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/asian-victim-in-brutal-nyc-attack-speaks-out\/\">Asian Victim In Brutal NYC Attack Speaks Out<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woman walks past tents for the homeless lining a street in Los Angeles, California on February 1, 2021.\u00a0 (Photo by FREDERIC J.
