Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), in an attempt to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter protesters in Brooklyn Center Minneapolis, managed to put herself in quite the difficult situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I am very hopeful and I hope that we are going to get a verdict. (Court TV via AP, Pool)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWell, I\u2019ll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal, that may result in this whole trial being overturned,\u201d Judge Cahill responded.<\/p>\n<p>The concern with her statement isn\u2019t only that people could view it as marching orders to escalate the intensity of their protests, but it could also influence the jury\u2019s decision in the Chauvin trial verdict.<\/p>\n<p>Many worry her calls to action could taint the due process of the trial, as jury members could fear retaliation from activists or some level of responsibility for mass destruction of U.S. cities.
