Thomas Massie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudiciary Committee just gaveled in,\u201d Massie wrote. \u201cChairman Nadler announced he has pulled this and the other hate crime bill from consideration today. It also mandates that the attorney general and the secretary of Health and Human Services \u201cissue guidance describing best practices to mitigate racially discriminatory language in describing the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy can you say \u2018UK strain\u2019 and \u2018South African strain,\u2019 yet \u2018Wuhan virus\u2019 is forbidden?\u201d Massie <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/09\/covid-19-coronavirus-donald-trump-china-virus-wuhan-variant-name\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">asked<\/a>. The representative later said Nadler announced that the bill would not be considered on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump was criticized by Democrats for repeatedly referring to coronavirus as the \u201cWuhan virus\u201d because it originated in Wuhan, China. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/17\/psaki-no-question-trump-wuhan-virus-attacks-asian-americans-racism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> in March that there was \u201cno question\u201d Trump\u2019s use of the term contributed to the rise in hate crimes against Asian-Americans.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate recently&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/14\/senate-advances-asian-american-hate-crimes-bill-gop-filibuster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">passed<\/a> the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, which was introduced by Democratic Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono, with overwhelming bipartisan support.
