He also played various video clips showing multiple media personalities claiming Sicknick, who died following the Jan. 6 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/07\/damage-capitol-building-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">storming of the U.S. Capitol<\/a>, was killed after being hit in the head with a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/15\/new-york-times-updates-article-capitol-police-brian-sicknick-fire-extinguisher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fire extinguisher<\/a> by a member of the crowd. He then asked Greenwald what he thought of the fact Sicknick didn\u2019t die in the fashion the media continuously pushed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been on your show many times over the last five years analyzing media lies that completely fell apart, and usually I think that happens because of just gross irresponsibility and recklessness, like they just don\u2019t care if what they\u2019re saying is true,\u201d Greenwald responded. \u201cI don\u2019t think that\u2019s true here. I think they did care. I think they lied on purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to state that \u201cit was vital\u201d for the media to be able to claim the \u201cpro-Trump mob\u201d murdered someone, because if they didn\u2019t, then it would mean the only <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/14\/ashli-babbitt-capitol-no-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">people who died<\/a> on Jan. 6 would have been members of the pro-Trump crowd. \u201cIt\u2019s very difficult to depict this protest as this menacing insurrection if they actually killed nobody and they themselves were killed,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole time, Tucker, there were so many reasons from the start to know it was a lie. There were journalists like myself \u2026 who were saying there is no evidence for it,\u201d Greenwald continued. \u201cThere is evidence to believe it wasn\u2019t true. The original autopsy found no blunt trauma. His family said that he called them that night to say that he was totally fine. His mother said that she thought he died of a stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what is so repulsive is they completely exploited this person, this young police officer, who they obviously didn\u2019t care anything about. They saw him as a toy to exploit his death for purely political ends, in ways that we now know were a complete and utter lie,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Greenwald later argued that the media trains their audience \u201cto want to be lied to,\u201d and that their audiences don\u2019t actually want them to come out and say they got the story wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are just going to move on.
