Maxine Waters (D-CA) over the weekend, where Waters said that activists needed to get \u201cconfrontational\u201d if Derek Chauvin was not convicted of murdering George Floyd.<\/p>\n<p>When Waters was asked during a protest on Saturday what activists should do if Chauvin is not convicted, Waters said that they must \u201cstay on the street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019ve got to get more active. [We\u2019ve] got to get more confrontational,\u201d she said. \u201c[We\u2019ve] got to make sure that they know we mean business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins asked Psaki about Waters\u2019 comment over the weekend and whether Biden agreed that people need to get \u201cmore confrontational.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell I can speak to the president\u2019s view, he has been very clear that he recognizes the issue of police violence against people of color, communities of color, is one of great anguish and it\u2019s exhausting and quite emotional at times,\u201d Psaki said. \u201cAs you know, he met with the Floyd family last year and has been closely following the trials we\u2019ve been talking about, and is committed to undoing this long standing systemic problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis view is also that exercising First Amendment rights and protesting injustice is the most American thing that anyone can do,\u201d Psaki added. \u201cBut as he also always says, protests must be peaceful.
