(Photo by Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 7:35 PM PT \u2013 Friday, April 16, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>Texas Representative Louie Gohmert (R) said Twitter has been part of what he calls the \u201chigh-tech oligarchy.\u201d Gohmert <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Acyn\/status\/1383114488430272515?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1383114488430272515%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.oann.com%2Frep-gohmert-twitter-part-of-high-tech-oligarchy%2F\">spoke<\/a> on the House floor Friday and slammed the social media giant over its alleged habit of targeting conservatives on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>He specifically noted the recent suspension of Project Veritas Founder James O\u2019Keefe\u2019s account. Gohmert reiterated that Twitter claimed to have taken action against O\u2019Keefe\u2019s account after he allegedly violated its rules on platform manipulation and spam.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas lawmaker suggested it was an effort to silence opposing viewpoints.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWhen you tear out a man&#8217;s tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you&#8217;re only telling the world that you fear what he might say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2015 George R.R.
