Tom Cotton blasted Democrats on Friday over their new bill that would add four justices to the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton claimed on Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Faulkner Focus\u201d that Democrats want to \u201cpack the court\u201d because they worry its \u201ccenter-right\u201d majority \u201cmight actually uphold the Constitution.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/09\/joe-biden-jen-psaki-franklin-delano-roosevelt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Psaki Explains Why Biden Is Exploring Court Packing After Previously Calling It \u2018A Bonehead Idea\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Host Harris Faulkner began the discussion by asking Cotton what the point was for Democrats to even <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/15\/democrats-joe-biden-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">introduce the bill<\/a>, considering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/arizona\/2020\/10\/14\/sen-kyrsten-sinema-opposes-court-packing-some-democrats-want\/3645042001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some Democrats<\/a> are pushing against it. She also asked what the \u201cpolitical play\u201d was for Democrats opposing the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe whole point is a Democratic power grab. The Democrats are angry that they don\u2019t have a liberal majority on the Supreme Court, and they want to add four justices, shockingly the exact number they would need to get Democratic appointed justices into a majority on the court,\u201d Cotton answered. \u201cNow, they may not be able to pass this in the Congress right now \u2026 but part of this is the Democrats trying to push the boundaries of what is possible, so if they win larger majorities at some point in the future, they\u2019ll put more pressure on their colleagues to vote for this and ultimately to pack the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cotton said he believed that it\u2019s \u201cessential\u201d to denounce what the Democrats are trying to do as an \u201cillegitimate attack\u201d on the country\u2019s foundational principles, rule of law, and constitutional government. He added that Republicans need to win back the House and Senate in 2022 to make sure the bill \u201chas no chance of happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Faulkner then suggested that Democrats could be trying to \u201cintimidate\u201d the court by pretending they might get their way since they went on to announce the bill even after House Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/15\/pelosi-nadler-court-packing-bill-house-floor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nancy Pelosi<\/a> said she wouldn\u2019t bring it to the House floor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s another effort by the Democrats as well, and something they\u2019ve done in the past. Chuck Schumer last year stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and said that justices, by name, were going to reap the whirlwind if they ruled in a way that he did not favor,\u201d Cotton responded. \u201cSo this is a long-term effort, not just to hopefully change the balance of opinion in the Democratic Party to ultimately pack the court, but also to try to intimidate justices on the Supreme Court, to hedge and trim, and to make decisions based on something other than the law and the facts of each case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cotton then claimed that the Democrats were \u201cdrunk with power,\u201d and that they would continue to try and \u201cseize more power and more control over the lives of Americans.\u201d He stated that&nbsp;the late Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/07\/24\/ruth-bader-ginsburg-court-packing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ruth Bader Ginsburg<\/a>, as well as current Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/07\/justice-stephen-breyer-expanding-court-further-erode-trust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Breyer<\/a>, all opposed adding more seats to the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Democratic politicians in Congress see a center-right majority on the court and they worry that that majority might actually uphold the Constitution as it\u2019s written and constrain their power \u2026 It is the ultimate power grab, it is dangerous, and it threatens to undermine fundamental principles like the rule of law in America,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Arkansas Sen.
