The new allocations provide more slots for refugees from Africa, the Middle East and Central America and lift Trump\u2019s restrictions on resettlements from Somalia, Syria and Yemen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Critics were quick to point out that Biden\u2019s policy is a failure to deliver on one of his campaign promises regarding the expansion of refugee admissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) described the policy as \u201cCompletely and utterly unacceptable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cBiden promised to welcome immigrants, and people voted for him based on that promise,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez continued. \u201cUpholding the xenophobic and racist policies of the Trump admin, incl the historically low + plummeted refugee cap, is flat out wrong.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cKeep your promise,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"15.192528735632\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Completely and utterly unacceptable.
