In July 2019, HHS banned the NIH internal research team from using fetal tissue and installed ethics boards to oversee all future federally funded research.<\/p>\n<p>Fetal tissue is <a href=\"https:\/\/chancellor.ucsf.edu\/blog\/response-administrations-actions-fetal-tissue-research\">used<\/a> in a number of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/senate.universityofcalifornia.edu\/_files\/reports\/rm-jn-mb-restrictions-fetal-tissue-research.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">research projects<\/a> looking for cures and treatments including Alzheimer\u2019s, spinal cord injury, eye disease and HIV, but religious and pro-life advocates argue the practice is unethical since the fetal tissue comes from aborted babies. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/06\/07\/fetal-tissue-research\/\">(RELATED: Is Fetal Tissue Research Vital To Medicine? Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser accused the Biden administration, and Becerra, of \u201cmoving rapidly to pay back their abortion industry allies and wipe out pro-life progress made under the Trump-Pence administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom day one they have sought to expand abortion on demand, funded by taxpayers, against the will of the strong majority of Americans,\u201d Dannenfelser said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/biden-harris-admin-to-ramp-up-experiments-using-aborted-baby-body-parts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>. \u201cNow they would force Americans to be complicit in barbaric experiments using body parts harvested from innocent children killed in abortions, with no limits of any kind.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/12\/09\/planned-parenthood-tram-nguyen-fetal-livers\/\"><b>(RELATED: Planned Parenthood Employee Testified She Wanted To \u2018Move Forward\u2019 On Selling Fetal Livers For $750 Each)<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Tara Sander Lee of the Charlotte Lozier Institute, SBA List\u2019s research arm, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba-list.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/biden-harris-admin-to-ramp-up-experiments-using-aborted-baby-body-parts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> the decision defies \u201cboth the best ethics and most promising science,\u201d noting that&nbsp; \u201cfetal tissue was not, and has never been, used for polio or any other vaccine, nor &nbsp;to produce or manufacture any pharmaceutical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are superior and ethical alternatives available such as adult stem cell models being used by countless scientists worldwide to develop and produce advanced medicines treating patients now, without exploitation of any innocent life,\u201d Lee said. \u201cAll scientists should reject the administration\u2019s attempts to prey on fears related to the pandemic to advance the practice of harvesting fetal tissue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s move to reverse Trump\u2019s ban is also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/07\/joe-biden-donald-trump-roman-catholic-church\/\">at odds<\/a> with the new president\u2019s Catholic faith: the Catholic Church&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s2c2a5.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">teaches<\/a> that abortion is \u201ca crime against human life,\u201d \u201cconstitutes a grave offense\u201d and that a person who obtains an abortion is automatically excommunicated from the Catholic Church.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch use tends to legitimize abortion as a source of \u2018life-affirming\u2019 treatments, and requires collaboration with the abortion industry, which should be avoided,\u201d the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usccb.org\/issues-and-action\/human-life-and-dignity\/stem-cell-research\/embryonic-stem-cell-research-and-vaccines-using-fetal-tissue\">said in a statement<\/a> during former President George W.
