They\u2019re still outnumbered by those who align more closely with the unease of medical experts and the Biden administration, according to public polling data.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anthony Fauci, for example, has stressed the need to keep restrictions in place for months. He <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/10\/anthony-fauci-greg-abbott-texas-new-day-cnn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criticized Republican governors<\/a> who lifted restrictions and said his life <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/12\/not-okay-anthony-fauci-vaccinated-americans-cant-eat-drink-indoors-coronavirus-mask-mandates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">has barely changed<\/a> since getting vaccinated. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/12\/donald-trump-joe-biden-anthony-fauci-rochelle-walensky-michael-osterholm-covid-19-coronavirus-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Trump\u2019s Health Officials Downplayed The Virus. A feeling of \u201cimminent doom\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/29\/weepy-cdc-director-rochelle-walensky-insists-america-facing-doom-facts-match-hysteria-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">still hangs over<\/a> her head, and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/02\/walensky-fauci-psaki-covid-messaging-vaccines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CDC guidelines<\/a> for vaccinated individuals have been far more reserved than many people expected.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the seemingly pessimistic view offered by these officials, including <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/29\/joe-biden-coronavirus-vaccine-available-pharmacy-walensky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">President Joe Biden<\/a>, they remain relatively popular with the American public. Fifty-nine percent of Americans think the CDC has done a good or excellent job of handling the coronavirus, according to an April Politico\/Morning Consult <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=00000178-cfbd-d112-a97e-ffbde6ef0000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a>. The same poll found 58% of Americans giving high marks to Fauci.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s handling of the virus got 57% good or excellent feedback. While feelings toward the CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/science\/2021\/03\/05\/growing-share-of-americans-say-they-plan-to-get-a-covid-19-vaccine--or-already-have\/#americans-are-divided-over-whether-closing-k-12-schools-to-in-person-learning-is-necessary-to-address-the-coronavirus-outbreak\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">have declined fairly steadily<\/a> throughout the pandemic, it\u2019s clear that Americans still generally support the leaders who are advising patience and worry over a return to normal.<\/p>\n<p>Data also indicates that Americans frequently support continued lockdown policies, suggesting that a feeling of ultimate safety is being prioritized over economic and social liberation. That Politico\/Morning Consult poll found 55% of Americans are more concerned about the public health impact of the virus, compared to only 36% who are more worried about the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/11\/27\/coronavirus-pandemic-small-business-closures-employment-economic-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">economic impact<\/a>. Those numbers have remained somewhat steady despite <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/2021\/4\/13\/22381983\/covid-finances-poll-americans-worse-off-coronavirus-pandemic-norc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nearly 40 million Americans<\/a> saying the pandemic has left them worse-off financially.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-two percent of <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/308222\/coronavirus-pandemic.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Americans believe<\/a> that even healthy people \u2014 who have zero COVID-19 symptoms \u2014 should still stay home as much as possible. 37% are still mostly or completely isolating themselves throughout the day, according to Gallup.<\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=00000178-b3bf-d5c5-affc-f3ff03030000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">April Politico\/Harvard poll<\/a>: 42% of Americans say that even when the pandemic is over, they would like to work partially or fully from home.<\/p>\n<p>Another policy Americans appear to support is vaccine passports. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/hilltv\/what-americas-thinking\/546978-poll-53-percent-of-voters-support-govt-created-vaccine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to a poll<\/a> from The Hill\/HarrisX, 53% of Americans want a government-made vaccine passport policy, compared to 47% who don\u2019t. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/06\/white-house-psaki-vaccine-passport-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Biden administration<\/a> has made clear it will not be pursuing a federal vaccine passport program, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/08\/new-york-vaccine-passport-easy-fake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">but states<\/a> and private businesses may choose to do so. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/05\/dr-anthony-fauci-vaccine-passports-covid-19-coronavirus-mandate-politico-dispatch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Dr. Fauci Says No To Vaccine Passports: \u2018It\u2019s Not Gonna Be Mandated From The Federal Government\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"5.034965034965\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Hawaii to roll out vaccine passport program by summer <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RZXobfYbym\">https:\/\/t.co\/RZXobfYbym<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MK3PHI0KxP\">pic.twitter.com\/MK3PHI0KxP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Hill (@thehill) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thehill\/status\/1381832279102750728?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Perhaps surprisingly, most Americans still have an optimistic outlook on the pandemic. <a href=\"http:\/\/cdn.cnn.com\/cnn\/2021\/images\/03\/11\/rel2b-coronavirus.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">77% of them say<\/a> the worst is in the rearview mirror. Still, it seems a significant portion of the U.S. wants to make things as risk-free as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Critics of coronavirus restrictions have often compared them to speed limits, arguing that lowering the speed limit to 5 mph would likely end all car crashes, but the trade-off isn\u2019t worth it.
