City Comptroller Scott Stringer was third with 11% and MSNBC analyst Maya Wiley was fourth with 10%, while every other candidate had single-digit support.<\/p>\n<p>Yang leads among virtually every demographic, according to the poll: black, Asian, Hispanic and white voters as well as men, women and voters with and without college degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Data for Progress surveyed 1,007 likely voters from Mar. 21 to Apr. 5, and the poll has a margin of error of three points.<\/p>\n<p>Though Yang only <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/13\/andrew-yang-candidacy-new-york-city-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joined the race<\/a> in January, he has sailed to frontrunner status and has raised <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/15\/andrew-yang-campaign-milestone-two-million-new-york-city\/\">eye-popping amounts of money<\/a>. He has been a fierce advocate for reopening the city from pandemic restrictions, publicly buying movie tickets when theaters reopened and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/19\/andrew-yang-reopening-new-york-schools\/\">clashing with teachers unions<\/a> over the delayed return to in-person school.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/04\/14\/andrew-yang-heckled-protest-daunte-wright\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Andrew Yang Heckled, Accused Of Being \u2018Pro Cop\u2019 During Daunte Wright Protest)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7172252\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"34\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7172252\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrew Yang speaks to members of the media along Canal Street subway station in Chinatown on April 05, 2021. (Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Yang may also benefit from <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/10\/07\/supreme-court-maine-ranked-choice-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ranked-choice voting<\/a>, a format set to debut in New York City this year where voters rank their preferred candidates instead of choosing just one. The poll found that 31% of voters preferred Yang as their second choice, 18 points ahead of Adams.<\/p>\n<p>The race\u2019s Democratic and Republican primaries are slated for June 22, and the general election is on Nov. 2.
